I always carry them with me and usually use them at least from Mickina hut to the gate on the planina.

Talking about the snow cover thickness on the plateau is totally pointless, because the snow is drifted and blown. Somewhere the whole stick + half an arm sinks in, somewhere 20cm. Paths to huts are trodden and there is no worry that they aren't, since we're up there almost every day. Same with access to the plateau, via Pasje Peči, trodden on lower and upper path, for crampons each decides himself if needed. L.P.

For me best when frozen at least 5m, so I accelerate and lift off ground and fly. Everything else doesn't bother me!
