We came via Volovljek and left the car at the parking lot at Rakov rob. A few meters further the path starts through the forest to Jarski dom! Cheers

Afternoon on Velika. Snow is crusting nicely. No problems on the road with good winter tires. Lp

Garmont, which road do you mention? I'm actually thinking of going to Velika Planina and just wondering which starting point to choose or what the roads are like...

Gravel road from the inn Kranjski rak at Volovjek. You can park quite a bit higher. Either at Rakovih ravneh (quarry), or even higher (Marjanine njive). With good tires it goes without trouble.

To me, the most suitable parking is in front of the Calcit factory

Did anyone go yesterday from Kalcit to Primož or further? I'm interested if now, since yesterday it's raining, the path is much more icy than before the rain? Thanks.

Just back from the planina. When turning from the road into the forest towards Sv. Primož you can't without crampons. To "mickine bajte" crampons mandatory, could say PURE ICE, further slightly snowy. Recommend Pirčev vrh crossing, below (didn't go) might be icy. Good luck

I'm wondering if it's possible to go to Velika Planina on Wednesday 8.2.? And where's best to start? Do you really need crampons? If maybe someone a bit experienced knows the conditions..

@tinka123 A bit late. I went on Wednesday 8 February and it was quite icy because it rained and snowed the previous day. But I managed the whole path up and down without putting on any crampons. On the way back I had to lean on poles a lot on the ice so I wouldn't slip. Today I went too and it wasn't so icy, but for the descent I still put on micro-spikes so I could run. I always hike from the parking at Calcit to Stahovica. One more thing. Seems some don't know exactly where Gradišče is. Today tracks ended on a summit before Gradišče. Meaning since the last big snowfall on Tuesday, no one went from that direction to Gradišče. Then to Gradišče another approx 4 min through snow if fast. Just FYI so no one boasts again with some "exceptional time" to Gradišče.

I go up quite often but don't take pics. Yesterday I took time to snap a wonderful day. Few people, even bumped into a skier. Army trained a bit with helicopter, quickly chased it from above Domžalec. Whoever doesn't know where Gradišče is can join this year's running race on 8.7., they'll measure exact time

Can you drive by car to the upper parking lot? If yes, what's the road like?

I recommend the nicest and safest parking lot next to Calcit in Stahovica (unless you're taking small kids or elderly people on a mountain trip).

Via Martinj Path to Planina Dol and on to Zeleni Rob. Lower part of the path is clear up to the little bridge. From there on some snow or ice, but doable without crampons, just a bit of caution needed. Snow starts where the path joins the road. On Planina Dol snow will melt in a few days. Path ahead through forest is icy, so careful. On Planina Konjščica I put on snowshoes. Snow is frozen in the morning, enjoying walking in the sun and choosing my path to Zeleni Rob. This part is little visited, few tracks, ideal for snowshoes. When I reach Gradišče, sun disappears, and wind gusts get stronger. Down via ski slope to gondola, then a bit wobbly ride to the valley. Recommend to all snowshoe fans.
