Ankenkopf is 2700 meter high peak and is part of the Zillertal Alps. The peak is located 4 km north of peak Wildgerlosspitze. The nearest mountain hut is Zittauer Hütte, located 3km southeast. A little further is bivouac Gämsehütte. 4 km southeast of the peak there is lake Unterer Gerlos See. 1.1 km south from the summit there is glacier Ebener Kees, 4 km south from the summit there is also glacier Zillerkees. Southeast of the summit is the valley Wildgerlostal.
