Hintere Faulwand is 3413 meter high peak in the Natural Park Gruppo di Tessa. The peak is located 1.4 km south of peak Westliche Marzellspitze - Punta di Marzèl Ovest. The nearest mountain hut is Similaunhütte - Rifugio Similaun, located 4km west-northwest. A little further is Obere Stierbergalm. 0.7 km northwest from the summit there is glacier Grafferner - Vedretta della Grava, 2 km northwest from the summit there is also glacier Niederjochferner. South of the summit is the valley Schnalstal.
