Vorderer Ampferkogel is 2909 meter high peak and is part of the Ötztal Alps. The peak is located 1.0 km east-northeast of peak Fotzenkarstange. The nearest mountain hut is Vordere Pollesalm, located 3km northeast. A little further is bivouac Rheinland-Pfalz-Biwak. 1.6 km west from the summit there is glacier Innerer Pirchlkarferner, 2 km northwest from the summit there is also glacier Geigenkarleferner.
