On Tuesday we drove to Pordoi pass, morning again fantastic, this time earlier, previous day experience taught us!! Almost alone at parking at 8am, immediately towards Sass Pordoi, then right to Ferrata Piazzetta. Couple of hikers already in ferrata, here no kids, inexperienced have nothing here. Right at start with Nino excites us, steps sooo worn, everything on arms, must admit one of hardest ferratas for us. Hard to imagine what to those who can't??!! Higher much easier, views crazy beautiful, think all very happy who climb Piz Boe not arrive by gondola, those majority, hundreds around... Down express, whole tour under five hours

Exactly a month ago we visited the peaks above Cortina, this time we go for Canezei which impressed us even more with the surroundings. End of August I didn't expect crowds but I was wrong. At 9am we are under Ferrata Tridentina, in the wall already such a crowd that I couldn't make sense of it. Some kids and older folks without experience were causing such jams that there was no fun in the rock. Ferrata nothing special, only in the Exner tower where thank God no kids, one grade harder. At the hut lots of visitors, Pisciadu summit also quite visited. What to say; not for lovers of peace and solitude, views really fantastic.

After almost 2 weeks finally sun and quite a few gathered on Pokljuka, of that some tourers. Didn't opt for skis myself, not much snow, but skiable, though today quite strong crust. Quite warm, except ridge and top when it blew a bit. Fantastic views, as always clear, hard to get down to Rudno polje..

Yesterday parked below Matizovec, a couple of cars, to Kofce meet no one, snow starts above hut, track made to V.Vrh, snow somewhere 10 to 35cm where drifted, we go to saddle, then turn right to Kofce mountain and break track, here put on gaiters, crampons not needed. Day fantastic, just us, count 8 the whole day. Below quite some mud, especially where tractors drove. Today drive above Trieste and in Napoleonika climb top without, crazy warm, views on Trieste gulf beautiful as always..

On Wednesday we drove to Ljubelj and met quite a few families on the path to Zelenica hut. When we turned towards Vrtača though, we were completely alone. In Suho ruševje we kept right under the walls, where you cross snowfields several times, but no problem. At the saddle between Zelenjak and Palec we turned right, here more caution is needed when crossing steep snowfields, where footprints are made. Higher under the summit it's dry and we both enjoyed the peace and beautiful views..

On the way to Austria, we seized the crazy nice day and visited Vošca, where there are really fantastic views of the Julian Alps, as well as Austrian Alps and Dolomites. Not to mention the larches, which glow and there are loads of them on the path to Trupejevo poldneva via Blekova planina. It was quite hard to descend back to the car, the day ended way too soon.

Today we went to check conditions on Ratitovec specifically from Prtovč over Podn. Little snow and it is southern, on the way back it all melted like in spring. At times gale-force wind, the hut keeper said it was blowing 110 km/h in the morning. In the lee it was quite pleasant, best views to the west, Kamnik Alps more cloudy...I think another nice weekend awaits us, not much snow on southern slopes!!

Today the wish was either Rjavina from the north or via Rekarjeva to Vrbanova Spica. Due to the fog persisting up to around 1900m, we turned right towards the sun and the choice was really good. Nice dynamic route, fog below us, with altitude always better views. Hats off to the path markers for such a well-protected route. With Nina we enjoyed climbing up and down and the fixed protections ran out too quickly. Still, lounging on the grass under the summit with fantastic panorama all around us was great...

Today I wanted the Julijce, something easier, but the weather and view to the west turned me from Kranj towards Preddvor. From Suhadolnik over Taško quite quickly, nice autumn day, higher at the junction larches already nicely yellowing. In Grdem graben it was quite slippery, so we descended carefully and later climbed towards srednji Dolci, where the fog started. At the junction we turn towards Jezerska Kočna, where we meet two hikers descending who had fog at the summit. The scree under Dolska škrbina is quite nasty, and nothing was visible. I heartily hoped the fog would clear with height, but we weren't that lucky. Before the pot-bellied passage we meet another hiker who had just crawled through, it's quite wet, fog thickens and it becomes clear that the devil took the joke. We turn immediately, give it all we have, it cools down and the unpleasant descent on wet rocks begins, which was very adrenaline-pumping. Nina was very happy when we stepped onto the scree, it warms up too and somewhere at 1800m we get below the fog and sun shines in the valley, crazy!! We descend happily, it gets brighter, positive atmosphere envelops us and although I don't remember when I last turned back below the summit, I believe it was the only smart decision today, even if the goal wasn't chosen wisely..

Nina wanted to climb, I wanted to cycle or go to some via ferrata, then we decided for a super panoramic experience. By gondola to Vogel (today there was a race on Vogel), then across pl. Zadnji Vogel to the mountain Vogel, which was quite visited, then we descend towards the west, under Globoka and continue to Konjsko sedlo. From there we ascend to Škrbina and look towards Tolmin side, from where mists start to chase. We turn left and with the help of chains to Vrh nad Škrbino. A bit of sun a bit of fog alternate as we continue the ridge traverse towards Meja and Rušnat vrh. Then Vrh nad Planjo, then down across Globoki back to the marked path and along the lower path past the former tavern to Zadnji Vogel. The seventh hour of walking was the hardest and we barely waited for the Ski hotel. While waiting for the gondola we wondered how many km we walked, because usually we go more vertically, today there weren't so many altitude meters as length. I would be grateful to connoisseurs for at least approximate mileage..

Yesterday, Wednesday, from Repov kot to Srebrno sedlo, great day, no wind to saddle, then strong westerly. We continued under Planjava (skipped this time) to Kamniško sedlo, down on scree and in 4.5h back at car. For me one of the nicer circular tours, next to path over Gamsov skret under Skuta..

Today's goal was Raskovec, Matajurski & Poljanski vrh, skiing from all three, but it turned out differently. Before Lescami I got a rain shower and the sky was cloudy over Bohinj. I called my colleague to check the cameras if there's more clarity somewhere. Since not, I waited a bit at the gas station, then went anyway and around Triglav it started clearing. When I drove into Laški Rovt on macadam, it looked clear. With the car one can drive 2km further from the parking for Suha, then about 20 min walk to the forest branch. The path is visible for a while, when snow starts it becomes a problem. I was here years ago, according to the description one needs to keep more left for pl. Poljana, but I went obviously too right and came under Gradovec, only scree, looked at Raskovec and other peaks, had to descend back to the forest and find the path to Poljana. This adventure and searching for a passage tires me, so I decided for Poljanski vrh. Snow is so soft that no crampons needed, from the south fog starts rolling in, nothing from the desired trio. Skiing on slush is OK due to steepness, don't feel like going back up, so today for me more a day for walking and orientation. From the planina need to keep left again and although no visible path again, I managed to reach the road, of which I'm very glad. Adventure ends at Danica and observing beautiful Bohinj Mountains..

Again to Vršič, this time alone. Head towards Šitna glava, today snow more southern, though more windy. Go under Šitna glava, when too steep, put skis on backpack and ice axe in hand. Below M.Mojstrovka I think it's enough, tracks lead to the top, someone skied down though it's pig steep (probably M&M)! Slippery under skis when I start skiing, caution needed. Lower it becomes fun, fine rotten snow and I really enjoy. Then turn right and again skis on backpack, and up Pripravniška. This time also to V.Mojstrovka, where I'm completely alone. At times stormy summit drives me down, again enjoy turns and solitude..

Yesterday with Nina we drove to Vršič, direction Mojstrovka namely via Pripravniška gully. Many mountaineers went through Vratca, we rather headed right. Ski tracks made, somewhere in the middle, but where shade is it's hard as concrete. I hop to M.Mojstrovka to ski down, Nina goes on towards the Big one. Quite a few people at the top, no wind, really pleasant. Snow was nicely softened, super skiing. Then heels back on skis and towards the last Mojstrovka. Beautiful terrain, no crowds, just one tourer enjoying the top. Panorama such that it's hard to go down. Ski down towards Drevesnica, then traverse left and arrive directly under Vratca. Skis on backpack and in 5min I'm through. Descent through avalanche a bit more annoying, mainly because of rocks. What to say; again one of the nicer days in mountains..

lepenatka, thanks for the wishes. Lately I'm still thinking where I would go and what I would ski. So; behind Cmir I was on Monday, when it was quite cold and windy, snow was quite hard, somewhat frozen, so crampons are pretty much mandatory equipment in the backpack. Conditions change from day to day, so it's good to follow the forecast for the mountain world. The path behind Cmir is very nice, suitable for fit hikers, because it's quite long, then depending on how far. Begunjski vrh is suitable, maybe also a jump to Rž, quite enough already to Staničeva koča, where there are fantastic views. To hikers I recommend an earlier hour, because there's still a long way back! Good luck..
