For the start of the ski touring season my friend and I visited Brda. We started from Medvedova korta and from Lipanca onwards also used skis for the ascent. There is little snow, will have to wait longer for carefree descent. But the weather was even nicer.

Today ascent to Krofička and Ojstrica from Logarska dolina. Above 1700 m there is quite a bit of snow, in places even icy. The snow is dry, untransformed. Both paths are tracked, however; the marked one to Krofička and the Kopinškova.

Descent over Škarje is very pleasant, as there is just enough snow to cushion the walk sufficiently without needing to break trail. On the summits it was really blowing hard.

When autumn and winter combine their powers, nature is even more wonderful.

Today tour to Skuta via Žmavčarje, over Štruca and Dolgi hrbet to Mlinarsko sedlo and by bearing to Kogel, then descent over Gamsov skret.

Most problematic are snowfields to start of climbing path on Skuta. I used winter gear myself so it went worry-free and quick. Climbing part without winter gear, whatever snow left can bypass.
To Ml. sedlo no issues, markings renewed and really visible.

In pictures see snow conditions of surrounding peaks. Except bivouac under Skuta full of sleepers didn't meet anyone. But first time saw chamois lying on snow and sunbathing.

Today on Lovec via Višarje and ski slope. Snow on the track continuously to the top starts around 1200m. Path from end of forest to start of gully quite frozen, so we struggled with skis to get through and back. In the gully good steps to the top.

Interesting to see that on Višarje everything is closed, no hospitality offer.

You can drive normally to Križovec, to Belska plain it's well trodden, I even walked in sneakers. To Veliki vrh there's untouched snow, no trail either, so I changed into boots.

Footpath to Kočna saddle also full of collapsing snow, to Golica along the ridge it's partially trodden, the part where the ridge path joins the path from the hut is well trodden to the top.

Despite spring in the valley it's still real winter in the mountains. 😊

Ascent to Palec from the saddle is rocky in the upper part, Zelenjak mostly under snow. Through Suho ruševje there's quite some snow, enough to ski back. From Zelenica to Ljubelj it's snowy, but lower down there's plenty of rocks on the track.

Otherwise wonderful areas, worth returning to.

Yesterday ascent to Prestreljenik and High Kanin. Path along station B to ski slope in Krnica delights with fragrant meadows pampering nostrils. After Prestreljenik path continues via ferrata in poor condition, many pegs torn off. Crossing on marked path to Kanin ascent over some snow patches, no issues.

If solitary before, on Kanin meet quite foreigners come via ferrata from Gilberti hut. Italian cable car running unlike ours. Descent crumbly path south, some protections, faded marks and cairns help. Path through Zadnji dol to Gozdec traceable.

In my opinion tour that in one day roughly captures Kanin grandeur.

We went direct from Šplevta and it's really a proper mountaineering approach.

Hehe Ločanka, same, few minutes later the summit closed with clouds.

Brother descended via ascent route cuz he tried to find phone, I chose safer path via Pogačnik.

Today ascent to Razor from Krnica. Path through Kriška stena is snow-free, on eastern part of Razor where approach goes, it's soft enough for making steps. Some snow still from Planja saddle to hut, but can bypass it. Noon quite quick clouding with strong wind, calmed in afternoon.

Yesterday on this solitary, panoramic and wild mountain from Soča. The path itself is well traceable, despite high grass and bushes. Due to reptiles and moisture long pants are not superfluous. Before the entrance to the gully and below the summit there are some snow patches, which can be crossed or bypassed.
During the entire tour we met only one hiker, and he was a foreigner from one of the camps along the Soča. Camps are quite filled, mainly with foreign tourists.
The views are exceptional, likewise the Soča valley itself. And just the refreshment in Soča under the guesthouse was the icing on the cake of the long and wonderful tour.

Yesterday on this beautiful mountain from Lepena. At the start it was quite tricky finding the path, then steep ascent along Šumnik as high as possible through the forest. When looking for the best passage, we reached the Krnčica ridge at 1700 m. Then the tour was easier, along or beside the ridge, which was spiced up by fog and then rain on descent to the saddle Čez Potoče and then to Krn Lake, so a lot of caution, orientation and searching for passages in broken terrain was needed. Quite demanding and technical tour, but something new and this time the areas around Krn impressed.

For a good morning visit to Pihavec. The path from Luknja is well described, but from the chimney there are several possible variants, all quite steep. For continuing to Bovški Gamsovec I think descent all the way to Mihelič slab is mandatory, then right along the wall over scree to the marked path and not lose too much altitude. Anyway, the current days are very nice for high mountains, long, warm enough and not too cold. Lots of visitors in Vrata still.

The path from Zjabcev to Velikih vrat is well traceable. Otherwise it's overgrown in places and some trees are in the way, but nothing special, marks are clearly visible. From Vrata to Čelo the path goes past many cairns, further along the ridge to Travnik and Plaskega Vogla real pleasure, at descents from Čelo and Vršaca quite demanding.
