Some of you are really kings. You reply to the guy so loftily as if he asked if he can avoid rocks on the way to Mangart. Well, some snow fell recently, weather is changeable, so you don't know how fast it melts, plus this mountain girl spiced up the situation right on Mangart. As Jax wrote, you're never pleased, whether a person asks or goes blindly into the mountains. Subtitles: of course in reality nothing ever pleases you, because you're not satisfied with yourselves, so you vent frustrations where you think you're superior. Newsflash: just because you manage better in the mountain world, the mountains don't belong to you any more. Safe steps to all.

Today from Krnica over Kriška stena to Križ. Before entering the wall there's still a very wide and steep snowfield, highly recommend using an ice axe. We didn't have it, so we made steps and went very carefully across, but it's a bit tricky right before reaching the wall. Between snowfield and wall almost entire length wide crevasse with several meters deep hole below. Only access is narrow snow tongue coming half meter close to wall. Luckily it's right at climbing entrance, so somehow doable. But in my opinion snow will melt so much in coming days that even there too-wide crevasse forms and won't be possible for a while even with winter gear. Otherwise route without features, in wall itself lots of scree, so be careful, especially descent.

Confirmed, the climbing route is normally passable. Yesterday from Kot valley to Vrbanove Needles. Even before entering the climbing part snow appears a few times, but you can go over or around without issues. Lojze Rekar route without issues, between Lower and Upper Needle there is about 10m snowfield, which you can bypass on the upper side, between snowfield and wall there is about half meter of clear ground. On the path from Stanič Hut to Kot there is still quite a bit of snow, so we went back the same way.

Today from Planina Podvežak over Mala Ojstrica to Ojstrica. Most of the path is dry, some snow patches on the way with steps made. Snow was just soft enough to make nice steps. Better to have ice axe for sure, I didn't miss it. Back same path, so don't know how the path from Kocbekov dom to summit is.

Damn, how some know everything about everything (but nothing else, quoting Mlakar...). The guy politely and culturally asked if it's possible without winter gear from one end to the other. If you know the answer, just write it; I'll illustrate with examples for those who don't get it: 'yes, possible, no snow anywhere', 'no, no chance, snowfield on a very steep part', 'on one part there's still some snow, frozen in the morning, softens in the forenoon'. If you don't know the answer because you haven't been there recently, just write nothing. Based on the received information, the hiker will decide himself whether to go or not. Ultimately, he is also responsible for where he goes and how it ends. I'm sure not all of you (us) who advise here are perfect experts for mountains, alpinists, rescuers and whatnot. But you do know something. Maybe more than the one asking. Let's share what we know and be silent about what we don't. Especially less know-it-all attitude towards everyone smart enough to ask something (which is the primary purpose of the forum). Everyone sometimes finds themselves in a situation or area where not everything is crystal clear, and it's nice if it's nicely explained. We're all so smart about how to behave in the mountains when we return to the valley (or to the computer), but obviously it doesn't matter.

Hi Tadej. Since you walk around there daily, I have one question: is the Ljubeljščica ridge bare? Planning to go soon from Ljubelj hut to Zelenica. Thanks for info and regards.

Hi, does anyone happen to have info on paths to Špik: up past the hut in Krnica, down via Kačji graben, wondering if it's all dry? Thanks

Hi, does anyone happen to have any info if the path to Rinke (Carinthian, Styrian, Carniolan) from Jezersko is snow-free? I know there's a snowfield before entering the Slovenian path, but I'm curious about higher up. Thanks

Yesterday the hut was closed. Big disappointment when I was left without beer

Today I wandered around these parts. Up over Taško there's no snow. On that old one where I went back, there's still quite a bit on the part where (looking up) you come out of the forest and climb the wider rocky band. But I'd point out one more thing: I brought home (at least) 12 ticks. True, I wandered through all sorts of underbrush and pathless areas too.

Majdag, I walked the Ljubeljščica ridge last Saturday from Ljubelj towards Zelenica. The path is dry all the way, only about 4 m just before Triangel there's snow in one hollow. Probably no more now, and anyway it's on flat ground so not problematic. There's quite some mud

Tomaž, congrats on nice pics But one question about snow: is it normally passable or winter gear needed? Thanks, LP
