Yesterday, on Friday, I was on Viševnik. Snow starts at saddle, or meadow, if you climb ski slope and continues all to about half path to top where bare. Was early but already sinking quite a bit, on return even more. Quite strenuous. Where possible went on grass, but need to watch carefully cause slippery!!! Was wonderful day, worth effort, nice view, and of course beautiful colors of gentians...

Hey! Did you visit Lovrenc too? If not, pity. There is actually a huuuuge stand of great gentian - Clusius' gentian. Now it's in full bloom . But now let me also announce that you go at the beginning of May to see that Zasavje end (I'm from down there), yellow sleč, which in exceptional fragrant area blooms in the forest above (my) Boštanj. Believe me, worth seeing . Go boldly

On Friday I wandered above Vršič to Slemenova špica. It was a sunny, warm day, so it showed on the snow too, which sank a bit, but with snowshoes it went great. Attaching some pics to show the idyll..., at least that's how I experienced it... Best, Minca

No, I was on Komna on Saturday too, with goal: Bogatin. Weather was for angels! Path from hut below Bogatin onwards was tough for walkers. It was possible with skis and snowshoes. Hm, I forgot snowshoes at home , so due to increasingly southern snow, sinking sometimes to knees, I didn't make it to the summit. A little after Bogatinsko sedlo I had to turn back. Oh, yesterday despite bad weather forecast, Ratitovec about halfway up the path from Prtovč to the summit showed its beauties in the sun... Climbed to the mountain via Po(v)den, through fog into a beautiful day. Path was icy in some spots in the morning; back via Razor, where still quite some snow but nicely trodden. Best, Minca

On Saturday the 19th I was on Nanos, real winter. Climbed from Razdrto on the steep path to the hut. Below no snow, in the middle it started showing snow in drifts. At the top bora, snow, fog and... real winter. Headed further to Suh vrh where no one had gone yet, no tracks, so I searched for the direction a bit, since it was still somewhat foggy too. But later the sky opened, wind calmed and... real winter fairytale appeared. Heavenly blue sky, sun... Back from Suh vrh via Nanos past St. Hieronymus church to Razdrto. Really wonderful day. I also climbed yesterday from planina Kuhinja to Krn. There was some misty low cloud below, but on top it was wonderful, especially the view with heavenly blue sky towards the Julijci. Snow to the shelter was quite south-facing, but I still had "those" crampons on. For descent it is recommended to have an ice axe and crampons. Yes, really nice ascent.
(At the shelter I met two "korenjaks" who came from Lepena. If you two are also on Hribi.net, please send me some photo from the top towards the lake and Komna, because on top my camera battery failed... It was nice to meet you...Safe steps ahead, best, Minca)
