We two also went to Palec yesterday and on to Zelenjak. In really sunny weather the tour was quite hot even though we started early. Conditions for ascent are normal, no snow. Only be careful on descent because there is quite some scree and you can easily slip a bit. We wanted to go on to Vrtača but had no gear as there is still some snow in gully. Safe steps to all further.

I agree with Heinz's statement that there are people on this forum with lots of experience etc. But criticizing someone who comes to help goes beyond the bounds of good taste. I think Juš has plenty of experience when it comes to winter movement in the mountains. I ask him for advice myself sometimes, since I believe an expert's experience says more than a two-day winter movement course I took a while back. You know: theory is one thing, practice another. To the ladies though: I live right near Storžič, I know the mountain but I know I'm still short some experience for a winter ascent. So you gotta set goals matching your experience, the mountain will wait. Gotta know the mountain shows a different face in winter (CONDITIONS) than in summer; and last but not least, weather can change quickly. Safe steps to all further on!

Ha, ha, it's better to be a couple hundred meters lower in full summer gear... and let Juš scramble... congrats for courage!!

Thanks to both eh, that's it, cool technique and true mountaineer: when rain and snow falls safest warm at PC, mouse in hand, no effort, no fitness, no winter gear issues more too best to joke a bit so laughing muscles stay fit now Špik waits, go in rain 1000m higher to see how wrong the guys were

Špik has been tempting me for a long time in winter conditions, so I wonder if anyone knows the current state there. Probably better to view it on the computer, much more comfy

Today at Dobrča at half past one in the afternoon rain instead of snow like yesterday morning Conditions: paths even more icy than yesterday, though the lower part is ok, dry ... but wet!

Igor, thanks for the friendly reply on this rainy day when we're stuck behind this box But I'm interested which path you would recommend for descent, as we know accidents mostly happen when descending, so we choose safer, even longer paths, and enjoy longer!

Climber, this is a really cool Garmin, almost like ours and I hear it sometimes works better than mechanical Anyway, you had a great time and caught some sun, we were yesterday despite those sleepy habits too early and embraced by fog congrats to all for the ascent and lots of vivid pics!

Igor, thanks for such a concrete answer from an expert and just when I'm thinking I really have to go to that area once In summer we're more daring in conquering peaks, so I'm interested what it is that makes you advise against ascent to this peak for us more ordinary mountaineers

Rozka, see today even we sleepyheads were still too early and on return sun smiled through clouds , but even such weather can enjoy a lot

urbann, I can't get enough of your pics... congrats. Fovšija works, but sadly us sleepyheads will continue to be deprived of such views, it's already like that, when you shot these and enjoyed, of course after a few hours of hard work, I'm still pondering whether to turn once, or even twice , since it's so nice, you just enjoy, we'll be left with sunsets and believe me, us sleepyheads sincerely admire you
