Does anyone have a feeling if the path from Kanja saddle is already dry or when it will be in this heat?

More than snow, the problem is falling rocks below the summit. I've experienced such a shipment twice on descent right below the summit, and it's not pleasant at all. You have luck or not, I had it, maybe next time I won't. lp

darinka4, is the falling rocks problem on BG always or just now more pronounced?

It falls as long as others are above us and carelessly dislodge rocks.

It happened to me when I was descending a bit below the summit. There was no one on the summit, last year and the year before, over Kanja saddle it was fine.lp

you know what, you're sooo mean, Bavški is so beautiful, but my knee is bothering me, rocks were thrown at me two years ago by a chamois, and it seemed to me it was even laughing at me, well from Kanja onwards helmet is useful

What's the path from Zadnja Trenta to BG like now?

Today on BG. Fixed protections over Kanjski preval satisfactory. No snow, except a small lying snowfield which is no problem at all on the direct path. I think the path over Kanjski preval is the only path in Slovenia (among those I've walked) for which it's really worth taking full protection kit with you. Especially below the summit the path is very crumbly, so helmet recommended.

Access to Bavski Grintovec currently not recommended from Bavščica valley, from the alpine educational center in Bavščica to hunters hut on Bukovac and a bit further up the gully, the trail is really densely overgrown and mornings quite unpleasantly damp and slippery. Of course you'll search for marks more than see them, ... well if now that's the trend of trainings in Bavščica to do tours only on pathless terrain . Rest - as predecessors wrote.

End of May it wasn't even suitable for a bike, but I doubt it's overgrown so much in a month and a half. You can't get lost anyway as the valley to the pasture is very narrow. You can talk about real pathless terrain if you turn into the valley between Jelenk and Šmihelovec

Has anyone gone to B.G. via Planina Zapotok and past the hut where one could sleep a few years ago? What's its state? Is it still safe to sleep in it? Thanks for any feedback which would help us a lot. LP

Last year, the upper part of the hut didn't seem too safe to me. Downstairs one can sleep more safely, where there is also a bench and table, but at night mice keep you company. They renovated the roof last year I know, for the interior I don't know if they renovated anything. And to sleep over you need everything with you. Maybe someone knows more. LP

Yesterday from Soča to B.G. Path from hunters' hut onwards overgrown, unmaintained and as such snakes paradise - met two adders eye to eye . Summit still no summit book, stamp placed. Views wonderful, path really long and physically demanding. Used 6l liquid, but at higher temps probably that too little. To all first timers recommend at scree start choose right path variant to notch, left for return unless enjoy scree ascents

Becar, congrats for courage. I might pass first viper, at second viper sight surely turn back. What if third somewhat hidden? Freezes me at that thought.

Of course it's safe last year we renovated the roof and also inside something so happily on the path from Zadnja Trenta and don't forget the sleeping bags. Good luck
