Bavarian Grintavec

Yesterday I climbed Bavarian Grintavec. I have some secured paths hiked here, but this one is a higher league, at least for an ordinary hiker! In the morning I left from the hut at the Soča source at 4:30, when crossing screes to Kanja saddle there are two snow patches (soft), then rock'n'roll from Kanja to summit. Down via the direct route, crossed three snow patches again, tried sliding but "immediately fell on butt"velik nasmeh, obviously unfocused and tired. Then, when the main part was over, i.e. at the paths junction, only one thought in my head - unionc in the hut.cool I checked the lower Zapotoški waterfall too, hopped to it on stones in the stream because the bed was full, lots of water. Near Flori I turned and greeted today's champion! I owe him that!!!zavijanje z očmi
This is poorly visible, but let it be, it looked very encouraging :)1
View back.2
No, here it is well visible.3
Planina Zapotok, which no longer exists.4
The dry stream under the hut was not dry at all.5
A good photographer with a good camera would work miracles that morning. Clean, washed air...6
Towards the Vrata saddle.7
Upper Trenta presents itself.8
Gospodin.9
The poles didn't see the summit, patiently they waited for the master behind the rock :)10
Here it started for real, gloves on hands, helmet on head and action.11
Bavšica Valley.12
Most of you know the path anyway, but still...13

The fatal chute :)17
Interesting chute.18
Lower Zapotoški Waterfall.19
Interesting chute of Suhega potoka, double S, water so clear that it can't even be drawn better!!!20
Goodbye until next time, it was an excellent outing!21
In any case beer, also praise to the staff, friendly and service-minded despite the crowd!!! I also slept comfortably.22
Aja, and this too, the emerald color starts here, at the beginning! :) Our daughter the mountaineer!23
From the summit, Ate in the background!24

mailman...

good trip..and nice tour...nasmeh

I have just a questionzmedenzmeden...next weekend we plan with mates to go to BG, namely from Trenta via the direct path to BG then return back the same way to the fork of the direct path and over Kanja to BG..
then we'll go to the Kanja saddle and from there to the Shelter below Špik..We'll see what the weather will be like...Do you by chance have any info on how the path Kanja to the Shelter below Špik is???
Is the direct path really in ruins or what condition is it in??? Winter gear (probably useful on snow patches)
we'll have it anyway so snow patches won't be an obstacle.. Are there already many Italian and Czecheek tourists in those parts...
Thanks a lot for the answers..mežikanje

Hi! I can't confirm for sure how the path from Kanja to Špik is; it looks all dry (from that hiked path). The direct path to the upper junction is nothing special, then it gets serious, very crumbly; be extremely careful due to stonefall. No snow up there, Italians and especially Czechs (also Dutch, Slovaks..) many at the hut, none on the terrain.

@mailman, you recommend winter gear, or is it possible without?

Yes, without, the snow is soft, but caution isn't superfluous! As I say, I fell on my rear going down, got up immediately because I didn't start sliding fast, still careful and good luck. The path is really nice and scenic, up there very adrenaline-packed.

Snow patches are quite gentle, but as mailman says, caution won't be superfluous. And more than on ourselves, watch each other, stones fly like crazy.

Yesterday from Soča village to Lemovje and further to Planina nad Sočo. In the basin below BG I turn right onto the southern ridge and along it to the summit. I descend via the marked path.

On 24.12. we're really curious how it was on 27.10... This reminds me a bit of the female version of LG (she'd go over Plemenice... then bypass snow... whatever).eek

I read your posts on the net. Since I've never written before, I'm surprised how some of you can be offensive. I just asked what the conditions on the path are. I described mine as I experienced it - nothing special, we learn from experiences. Well, and it's not true as Redbul wrote that the path over
Plemenice was dry. There was snow, but it was possible to walk on it. Except that frozen snowfield. When I saw that the ice axe wasn't helping, I looked for another option and it worked. THIS YEAR AT THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER I had to turn back tikalovec before Dolič because I left crampons in the car. The snow was frozen too. THEN I TOOK CRAMPONS WITH ME even in summer. And they came in handy on the section of the path to Jalovec. I think those who write on hribi net write in nicer words because I know that I can fail, but I'm prepared for that and if it's my fate I'll go. I remember this year on B Grin. Part of the path in the wall was iced over. I didn't know what to do. No grip. Turn back. Somehow I pulled myself forward. Similar was over Kanjo. There concentration was first. But on the summit I was rewarded for everything. Only my footprints were in the snow. GOOD LUCK

Yes dear Primož. This time I agree with you. Though with this difference, that you can teach a 14-year-old quickly, but us who are over 50, unfortunately, it is what it isnasmeh
