Path to Begunjščica from Draga is snow-free, but it was a bit cold, especially because it was already pitch dark when I descended. Also a comment on parties (there was already a very heated discussion about this...): thank God that where I wander, no one has the balls to go "fiddling" with the accordion up there!

Hi, I'm interested what the conditions are like on the path from Ljubelj - Begunjščica (via Preval). Thanks kindly for the answer and safe steps in the mountains.

Yesterday I was on Veliki vrh and looked at this route from above. It's practically snow-free. Maybe some only on the summit slopes of Begunjščica. Definitely need gear with you to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Ljubelj-Preval-Roblek path is snow-free, most likely snow-free to Begunjščica summit too. Mountain hut at Preval open on weekends where you can refresh with some wild boar delicacies.

jprim, otherwise I fully agree with you that it's nicest in the mountains to find silence, but in such nice weather and on Roblek it's almost impossible .., and if I tell you we were 19, then you know you couldn't count on peace and quiet....

Sabina ... 19, pretty good, probably a close-knit group. But it still interests me; where lower in the valley can't you socialize and organize some party ... maybe too tired in the valley??? If my wife and I ever head that way, Roblek is just a 5-minute intermediate stop. Nice greetings and safe steps.

Usually I run to Begunjščica via Kalvarija, but today I chose the less muddy option via Roblek. Running conditions excellent, trail dry, weather stable. No snow - except one 10 m long snow patch just below the Begunjščica summit, which can be avoided.

Yesterday 17.04.2011 my husband and I ascended Begunjščica. From Ljubelj via planina Preval, over Kalvarija to the top and via Roblek back to pl. Preval. As Bojan already said there's no snow, though we met people who apparently didn't summit because of ice.. Really no announced sun, just cold wind occasionally chilled us to the bone.. but nothing for it, still fun...

Begunjščica via NW ridge is a great tour. Strongly recommend...

Hey Juš, then just organize a "mountaineering" trip, hehe

Running over Kalvarija to Begunjščica is one of my favorite mountain running trainings, because the path is really steep and elevation gains quickly. Of course running down over Kalvarija is completely different - that's tough. Regards, Bojan

Nice tour, no doubt. I'll try it when Preval gets going with its offer, then you can grab a bite there, as far as I know. LP

For me personally this path was much better than the western one, which I took back.

@joc001 At Preval you'll probably already get schnapps and sour milk, and some game salami is also at hand.
