On Saturday, up the central gully and down Šentanski plaz. Since I haven't winter hiked here yet, I'm interested in the (current) difficulty of the central one vs. Šentanski plaz and maybe Turski žleb, where I winter hiked to Turska gora. Is one hiking ice axe enough (crampons etc. understood, no mistake) or are two ice axes recommended?

Šentanski plaz: Slope extremely avalanche-prone and on hard snow dangerous for slipping. Max slope ca. 25º.
Centralna grapa: Ascent via it is an alpinistic tour – only experienced and properly equipped mountaineers/alpinists in good snow conditions! Max gully slope ca. 45º.

Since nobody wants to say it straight - yes, one ice axe is enough, Šentanski plaz is a bit less steep than central. Technical difficulty, dunno how to comment.. just hike up the slope, no tricks
Oh, and a bit windy on Saturday.

Yes, thanks for the answers. I asked around a bit and found out that it's not some big technical problem. But it's true that difficulty is sometimes a very relative term, which depends on many factors, among which is certainly the mileage that an individual has in individual difficulty levels and weather conditions.

Given that strong wind was blowing, according to the web cam the wind blew away all snow. Both Šentanc and Centralna grapa look almost snow-free. What do you think? What are the actual conditions?

Today on Begunjščica weather sunny but windy. Lots of ski tourers, conditions better in the central gully, which is much less visited than the Šentanski plaz, down which we descended.

Today there were really lots of us around here. Todi, we met when you were already coming back via central. I went via ipsilon (exit left branch) and came back via šentanc.

On Sunday traversed NW ridge and descent via centralka. Ridge exceptionally beautiful, takes some time.. little snow but good for cramponing. At some spots needs a bit more care. Weather wonderful

Today I was on Veliki vrh in Begunjščica from Ljubelj via Šentanc (return same way). Nice path to Šentanc, hard snow all over Šentanc, really chopped up but no problem walking. Strong wind on the ridge, calm on the summit. Crampons and ice axe needed from winter gear. No tracks from Roblek direction. Lots of hikers despite workday.
