not comparable. There the ferratas are longer, significantly higher the peaks themselves are much higher.

It's about that at E you simply can't go neither forward nor back, overhang, it can be dangerous...

Today we went to the mentioned ferrata. Two of us already at the start headed via the "bypass" to the second part of the ferrata, where we waited for the remaining two who headed into E. Due to dirt on the rocks, they are very slippery, our older, obviously very worn gojzar boots made the ascent even harder, so we somehow decided to come another time when it is less humid and with less dirt on the rocks. When waiting at the top of the bypass for the other two, we admired the wonderful landscape and already made plans for next year. Although the part marked E is short, they came from the first part visibly exhausted. For all to know, E is not just a letter that means nothing in ratings. In the end only one did the whole ferrata, since three turned back, as the ferrata will wait for us when better prepared. Very good that some selection happens already at the start. Also at the start of the second part the section marked D is also a bit more demanding and a problem for us smaller folks The ferrata is otherwise exceptionally well routed and I believe all who did it enjoyed and proudly reached ČK. Conditions: Very slippery, ferrata dry throughout, except last few meters when the cable levels out. Nice regards and safe steps, Ben

Now at least they'll know what ferrata is and what secured mountain path is. Let some more like that get stuck on those cables, who say that to Vrbanova špica is ferrata and to Prisank, Mojstrovka etc. They walk easily sporty on nicely routed and secured mountain paths and think they're on ferrata.

Hey, various pikices, what bothers you so much how others walk the world??? Walk your own and mind your own business!

It's right that they say it as it is SamoK .After all this that I read here this ferrata won't see me.

That's how you talk, primoza. Excellent advice, and without unnecessary anger towards someone who maybe didn't rate everything best.

@SamoK that old guy showed up yeah. Dude, if someone steps a bit faster up the hill, god knows you're already asking about health and current conditions. Whoever visits ferratas knows their ratings too and well knows what they're capable of.

Is the ferrata comparable to the ascent Jezersko sedlo - Koroška Rinka, which I would rate D?

| Bandzo31. 10. 2014 21:31:15 |
No, it's not. It's significantly harder. You have to realize that your D rating doesn't necessarily mean it's actually rated that way. Via ferrata isn't the same as a secured path. On a secured path, the cable is mainly for protection, while sports via ferratas are routed so that you tire yourself out, that you actually "sport" in it and don't just climb somewhere / to some peak. E rating is no piece of cake.

My opinion on "via ferratas" too. The hardest secured paths in Slovenia are in my opinion comparable to those abroad marked with difficulty B/C. For comparison, the climbing path on Stol has its hardest part marked B/C. Veliki vrh in Košuta should be A/B. Otherwise I've seen quite a few paths in Italy and Austria that are even easier than ours but they still call them Ferrata or Klettersteig. Of course you have to look at the path as a whole, this E rating just marks the hardest part. This path http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt9ujrw7grE is for example marked only D/E, but overall it's certainly harder than the one to Czech Hut. Otherwise it's smart to gradually increase the difficulty. If you're used to walking only on Slovenian paths that are B or B/C difficulty, E difficulty will surely surprise you.

But when I said there's no via ferrata in Slovenia I was the biggest ignorant and know-nothing who gets thrown out etc... Here, finally justice has prevailed. They don't rescue you from ZPP with a helicopter!

The Czech Hut via ferrata is a respectable via ferrata, as it has no other "iron" in the wall except the cable. When the wall is cleared of larger amounts of soil that in autumn times cause the wall to be slippery, it will become a real climbing path - via ferrata. Arm strength and leaning away from the wall is needed so that certain wall sections can be climbed with friction from the entire soles. On October 30th, three Brežice guys and two Postojna guys climbed it, the others retreated and appeared at the start of the second wall, where they all backed off one by one. A pair even got off-route a bit to the right of the marked path, so rescuers had to come "get them down". With proper technique and good physical condition, any secured path can be climbed no matter how demanding. I don't know if Bandzo was in the group I helped with advice and advised the two off-routes to call 112. The fact is that rescuers had to help because of the thoughtless action of two hikers who left the marked path and went their own way into the wall.

Today via ferrata to Czech Hut... Rain would be very welcome - to wash the wall, especially the first part - slippery because of soil...
