I believe. Once you have better camera, probably weight and size outweighed by better quality pics. Question if worth buying entry-level DSLR with kit lens. Doubt images overall (various conditions and types) better than compact. Your D80 not entry (don't know lenses), but can give opinion. Just so we understand, I don't own DSLR, that's why asking. Maybe changes in future.

Today got email from amazon.de, crazy deal on compacts. Canon PowerShot SX 240 HS was 299 euros before, now 194 euros. TZ31 was 369, now 269 euros. More on amazon.de

"Today I got an email from amazon.de, they have a great deal on compacts. Canon PowerShot SX 240 HS was previously 299 euros, now it's 194 euros. More on amazon.de" Probably easier to buy it at Big Bang here for 199.99€

I won't buy Canon, and I doubt they have Lumix at Big Bang, or do they Please someone answer about the battery. Thanks.

The battery is for that camera, but not original. It's worth buying original batteries, because replacements can be good or not.

@Hribovc88 No sense experimenting, waste of money for the camera. If you buy a good camera and spend some money on it, let the additional equipment be original too. Where the bull goes, let the rope go too. I never buy approximations. If I can't afford something right away, I wait a bit and buy later. The warranty given by the manufacturer for its product is always tied to the use of original spare parts or accessories.

I use Nikon Coolpix P100 camera, it's super, takes nice photos, and I'm satisfied with it. Before I had Olympus SP560. I always take it to the mountains, hang it around my neck and photograph interesting scenes. A couple of my pics from the Alps:

Thanks toplar and Irina, you're right . Does amazon.de maybe have original Lumix battery or can it be bought separately?

I have a Nikon Coolpix P90 camera, I'm quite satisfied with it. It has 24x optical zoom, all data also on the eyepiece viewfinder (peephole). Only shortcomings, no HD recording, which P500, 510 already have, maybe a bit slow and quite large camera, for mountains in summer no problem. For winter I got Canon PowerShot SX230HS, 180 eur on sale 14x zoom, small camera with GPS, HD,.. Bought additional non-original battery, 1/3 stronger and half the price of original, which works well. (via ad on Bolha) Only shortcoming of these small more capable cameras is that in strong light and higher zoom you can't see on the screen what you're shooting. I thought to sell P90, but now because of this shortcoming probably not. Similar camera in size to SX230 is Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX20B, but has better capabilities, though much more expensive. best regards

Thanks toplar and Močerad, I initially planned to get this one, but then I noticed that TZ31 isn't available on mimovrste, so I'll get TZ31 on amazon.de.

Hribovc88, I don't know what's the difference between TZ30 and 31, you probably checked that. Maybe it's the same camera with different label depending on the country where it's sold. But before you order it, whatever it is, go somewhere and check the camera live. On Leskovškova they have TZ30 on sale for 259.00 €, if red color doesn't bother you. http://www.fotospecialisti.si/en_-b-kompaktni-fotoaparati-b-,29,3.html

I think it's really a label for the German market. The mentioned camera is also sold as ZS20. So TZ30/TZ31/ZS20 == the same thing. LP

Nikon, Canon, conditionally also Sony, the rest I wouldn't even look at. Why Panasonic, Olympus...?
