@Irina, what disappointed me most is that it's very heavy; already today on a short walk around the nearby villages I could barely carry it—what would it be like if I went to Triglav with it

@Hribovc, I have to admit, yesterday I was quite surprised when you posted what you bought. You talked about a pocket camera, then you show up with a specific one. By the way, I couldn't view the photos on Google, it happened to me before. Ah, no problem, I'll see others, with another camera. In the store where you bought the camera, couldn't you exchange it? That would be the easiest. Yesterday I was still browsing the web and checked out the Panasonic TZ 40. They added everything possible into such a small box.

@Hribovc, but, at mimovrste you can return the camera or exchange it for something else if the original doesn't meet your expectations. In a regular store they would "bug you" and probably you wouldn't succeed. So online shopping has some advantages too. You know, the question is whether we amateur photographers really need TZ40. And how many are those fine points that distinguish it from TZ30, to wait for it and overpay. I'd be happy with TZ20. TZ10 doesn't have panoramic shot, so it's not in my choice. http://www.mimovrste.com/info/206/vracilo-blaga

Thanks Irina, I'll call and inquire, but I think it won't work, because the camera was already in use.

Regarding TZ30 and TZ40 you're absolutely right, it's just a matter of time when they'll discount TZ30 on mimovrste .

@Hribovc, that you opened the product, tested it and found it doesn't suit you, is not a reason you can't return it. Upon return, the product must be undamaged, in original packaging and include everything you got. I don't know where you're from, but "mimovrste" has its stores for picking up ordered products, so I think you can return it there after notifying. The cameras I have, Panasonic TZ7 and Canon, interestingly both made in Japan, don't know about others. Panasonic even makes its special series itself, obviously doesn't trust subcontractors, at least not the first series.

@Irina, unfortunately I don't have the original packaging anymore, well I won't claim, I'd have to look if I stashed it somewhere, but I doubt it. Otherwise it would be the ideal solution if I could return it and then pay the difference when I get the Lumix .

@Hribovc, yeah dude, were you so happy with the package that you quickly "trashed" and threw everything away. Even for warranty and claiming complaints it's right to keep packaging for technical products at least a year. Sure, it piles up, but it's not that bad. Well, I hope you'll find everything you need for successful exchange and get the camera you want.

@Hribovc, I think you'll successfully survive this episode. I always check every camera in the store first and insist they charge the battery if not, to take some shots. With larger cameras I'm careful not only what it offers, but also how it "fits" in the hand. Some cameras have the right side shaped so it doesn't suit me. Sometimes I hold the camera in one hand and then it must "sit" well, otherwise can't photograph.

If you order from ebay (China or USA) you'll pay customs over ~20€, which isn't cheap. Check ebay.de or ebay.co.uk, there are also many other foreign stores where you can find cameras cheaply.

My classmate from elementary school has it, and she said it's slow or has long response time or in plain words, it grinds and grinds

I own Panasonic TZ7, predecessor of TZ30 from a few years back, but it's not much worse. I also have a DSLR and can say there's big difference between them especially in low light. Don't expect miracles from compacts. If you set higher ISO there's quite some noise, lower ISO image is shaky as shutter speed is long. Decent low light shot with tripod, handheld is tough.

Well I'm looking for something small, lightweight but quite capable, searching and came across this Nikon and it tempted me a bit
