Boštjan, time is a very relative thing. What do I know how much it took me altogether. Around under five hours.
Yes, the ridge was trodden. The tracks might be covered already today.

I think the situation has completely changed, as it was snowing heavily on Velika Planina in the afternoon already.. So better change your plans!

@Volk: I think I saw your headlamp from afar as I was slowly descending to Cojzova. It really was a beautiful evening. I wasn't in a hurry anywhere, even though darkness was very close. I even waited more than an hour for the sunset. velik nasmeh

Martinček and Racman? Haha, I had to do something while waiting for sunset.

It was worth walking back in the dark. :p

The last evening glow caught on the summit and slowly faded - just now.
Unfortunately, air pollution is visible, because the photo is not as clear as it should be.

I would ask if someone is going to Grintovec tomorrow to report a bit what the conditions are like and how far you can go by car, because I plan to go up on Sunday.

Yesterday Anzeta and I went up to Grintovec. No snow in the valley at all, so you can drive to the cable car by car. On the path snow starts halfway to the scree. Weather was nice, windy, -8 degrees on top. Snow was nicely frozen, except some crusts with 10cm powder underneath at moments.

Today morning dash to Grintovec from K.B. Start still dark just after six. Conditions ideal, snow excellent, no steps formed. Stamp outside on top. Weather ideal almost no wind. Regards

True, today Grintovec was quite well-visited. Start at 7:40 from Suhadolnik via Taško. Path over Taško snowy below and icy in places. Otherwise not much snow on path, but careful around here! Below Kokrsko sedlo continue left via trodden winter variant avoid saddle... then onwards you probably know... Roof, ice axe plunges, looks up... Snow - squeaker today ideal for ascent. Weather nice, visibility very good but wind pulled at times. Descent same path back to car. Times: ascent good 4 hours descent 3 hours.

...well, this lasts and lasts...and lasts...

I agree with Peter and @Rerze11. Lots of visitors, great conditions. Squeaky snow, snow doesn't ball up, no sinking, steps made. Northerner pulled a few times, but nothing serious. If you ask me, mandatory winter gear. At 13.00 on the summit, convinced I'd be last, but two more went up. When Peter started, I was still sleeping, when Rerze started, I was having breakfast eek

Up took 3.5 hours (I was puffing so much, it seemed quite strenuous), down 2. Road to Žagana peč fine.

Really? Which one were you? Did we meet under the Saddle or in the forest? In the forest I remember one with La Sportiva Evo or La Sportiva Extreme shoes, and one right at the bottom with running goggles (that wasn't you, I assume), under the Saddle I remember the one who slipped a bit, and one descending with an ice axe. From the Saddle onwards I also remember certain ones, but not all for sure. Describe yourself a bit, I'm really curious. Yes, to the Saddle I went fast, from the Saddle onwards I was puffing so much that it was ugh, so fast to the top, I'm more skeptical eek

You all who start early are diligent, that's the right way! I'm trying zmeden

This time, with my son, we decide to do our first winter ascent to the king of the Kamnik Savinja Alps, as we sensed that the conditions for the ascent today might be quite pleasant.
The road to the freight cable car is normally drivable (for somewhat higher-set cars velik nasmeh

). The path to halfway to the saddle is just lightly sprinkled with snow, higher up there is more of it and it was quite hard in the morning, so it makes sense here to put on crampons, which from the saddle onwards are definitely mandatory. The path to the top is partly windblown, hard and icy; there is also drifted soft snow sinking to the hard base, which is not deep.
Quite a few went to Grintovec today, no wonder as the weather favored us. nasmeh
