Is the road passable to Konc or Žagane peči? Or do you need to leave the car lower? thanks LP D

As far as I know, you can't drive there even if it is passable. Last year I saw wardens leaving fine notices on cars. From the Dom in Kamniška Bistrica it's a good half-hour walk to Žagane peči. L.P.

The road to Jermanca is passable. I guess it's the same to Žagane peči. But (as always) it's quite rutted. LP, J.

Velkavrh, it looks like you haven't hiked around the hills there. I haven't heard that you can't park up there. thanks for the info. LP

According to the currently valid traffic signage, "velkavrh" is completely right. Motor vehicle traffic beyond the Dom in Kamniška Bistrica is not permitted.

redbull, by the hut in Kamniška Bistrica there is a clear sign. Regarding rangers up there I know they were and gave quite some 'awards'. Ban reason per mayor mainly road damage dangerous in spots. Happened to me almost local waiting for driver ahead to get unstuck from road too much for him.

There is definitely a sign, but everyone rushes up with cars, although it's only 20 minutes of brisk walking from the hut to Konec. Until there's a barrier, it will surely stay that way. I don't mind, I don't refuse 20 minutes of walking for warming up.

Come on, redbull, a bit of respect for the elderly. Just read your aggressive tone, when you have no idea where velkavrh has already hiked. It really gets on my nerves, that milk-tooth posturing.

Thanks for the info. I still know just as much as before. Domch if you get there in 20 minutes from the hut to Konec, but walking,, then I'll totally freak out. I know it's impossible, if you run, like in a race e.g. I had 15 minutes, with walking under 35 minutes no chance. lp

In 20 min it's really hard to get to Konec just with hiking pace. The elevation alone is nearly 300m. About 400m ascent a fit mountaineer does in one hour.

If I'm not mistaken the sign is not right at the bottom by the hut but a bit higher where the side road branches off to a house, left the road continues to Konec. I agree approx 30 min to the lower station of the cable car to Kokrsko. I still remember how some looked at me in the morning me on foot others up with cars....wild that I had to jump aside several times.... Lp! Tone

This extends the whole tour by approx. 1.5 hours, which is a lot. The tour is very strenuous, the last minutes are always the hardest and instead of being at the car already, you still have approx 40 minutes walking. Not that I'd break regulations, but there are 100x worse roads elsewhere and it's all OK, here they complicate things. Oh, and that in season it's almost impossible to get parking at the hut is standard. And park 10 minutes walk lower below the hut no?!

Flora1, thanks for the encouraging words. Actually I feel 20 years younger. Those half hours of walking or even more at closed roads to tour starts, and not only here but on many tours, don't bother me too much. On this stretch I paid a fine a couple years ago when I went to Kamniško sedlo and from there to Planjava. Here the closed road uphill extends the path by almost a whole hour. Otherwise I prefer to Cojzova from Suhadolnik from Kokra. It is somewhat longer, but nicer path. Soon from the start you can practice secured climbing over Taško. L. P.

Regarding the road, I hope we've agreed I'm interested, what's the path to Grintovec like? Is it trodden? Better to go with skis? Is anything dangerous? Thanks!
