Today blindly up. Weather held up. Great holiday, few visitors. From KB side snow starts a bit before forest exit. Above saddle easy ascent with crampons, on return pleasure sliding without them, as it was just right crusty. Still lots of snow, on the roof only a few rocks stick out of snow. No living soul on neighboring peaks.

Today's attempt to climb Grintovec we ended a few 100m below Grintovec Roof.
Namely at times the gale-force wind didn't allow us to continue towards the Roof. There were quite a few of us and all turned back below it. Someone even had their helmet ripped off the backpack, which flew towards Suhadolnik.
Otherwise for walking, ignoring the wind excellent snow that didn't break even on descent.

I was at the same time just below Storžič summit at the saddle and had to crawl to the top quite bent over to have less resistance, it was blowing so hard. At the top I still changed and had to weight every item with a stone when taking it from backpack. In all years of hiking such strong wind never happened.

I'm quite relieved reading this today, since I hike no such thing happened that I didn't conquer the planned summit yesterday in the saddle between little and big Stol it literally tossed me around still today bruises on body never experienced such thing crawled over edge towards hut to get to lee.

Almost every Slovenian has probably seen the long roof of Grintovec, as it's impossible to miss it from the highway. From Krvavec it's visible even much better, up close the vastness of the snowfield really captivates you. The elevation gain is also large, almost 1700 meters to overcome. In soft snow and with the sun behind your back the roof just drags on and on. As for the weather, we were about an hour late as the cloud scenery closed in, but visibility for skiing was still good. Lower under the saddle the snow is enriched with rocks, but after a few turns of scraping you somehow don't hear it anymore.

today on top, conditions excellent, especially descent was fun, when Janez and I skied just in boots...went pretty fast...otherwise without using winter gear, it was in backpack. Super day and extremely few people.
