Current setup in combination with our habits just invites violations of the ban. 40 euros (if the fine is really that much) means nothing to some, locals and "those locals" usually have a "tiny" advantage with traffic police, ... System before the accident was somehow like this (if I remember right): barrier open early morning and evening - entry/exit free, in between closed - "necessary" exit payable. To me such setup seemed quite reasonable. It was meant mainly for full-day excursionists, at the same time it brought some more guests to the hut. Deeper into the valley a family with small kids could drive, and even a bothersome old man could afford reminiscing around the hut.

this summer the barrier was open through, something strongly surprised me, that in Planica they didn't collect parking fee (weekdays) otherwise it would be right to arrange this matter since the ticket on the car when you return from the tour is a spit in the face... but I fully agree with the previous one.

Regarding car access by road to Tamar I'm glad we're of similar opinion: also for access to Logarska they collect tax or parking fee and in Bohinj (to Vogar) too. So let it be a tax, not a fine, where unfortunately they still first look at the first two letters of the car's license plate. Personally I thought in the past an acceptable solution was access open until 8.00 (or some similar morning hour) and free, afternoon back similarly. Otherwise in September and October, when there are no more so many vacations, visits to these places would surely increase also from other visitors! Maybe from this forum we compile and send some initiative to Kranjska Gora municipality for changing the current setup.

@ugn: I only went along the road because there was no more sun on the footpath, and I needed it. I wasn't expecting cars, since driving on that road is supposed to be prohibited. Of course, I met about 4 (including one "diesel guy" who stank up the whole valley). And also: I always get out of the way of cars and never hinder them, because that only pollutes the surroundings around you even more, as the driver who was forced to slow down usually presses the gas harder out of anger and makes the situation worse. Otherwise, I agree with the previous opinions.

My view on access to huts/starting points is this: those of us who have two, three hours or more of driving in the early morning hours behind us, it suits us veeeery much to be able to "drive up" to such starting points. So it would somehow make sense to introduce some appropriate fee, even better if the barriers are simply open in very early morning hours up to a reasonable time limit, and likewise in the afternoon/evening period. I'm convinced that there aren't that many "serious ones" who go out very early on tours to "destroy" our beautiful little country.

Yesterday we made good use of the last nice autumn days and headed to Slemenova Špica. Because of the colorful beauty that larches offer these days, which were still full of droplets from the morning fog and sparkling in the sun, your heart jumps and breath stops. You have to see this live. To all this view, the mighty Jalovec with its reflection in the water and surrounding peaks contributed. Real balm for the eyes and soul. Beautiful is our Slovenia. But after the unforgettable day we were disappointed in Erjavčeva hut, where despite the pleasant afternoon sun they didn't serve visitors outside saying it was too cold. You can't believe it! Such hut keepers really don't belong in mountain huts. Who hires them, we wonder? Thank God they are in the minority, but still annoying.

Um, somehow I don't understand the problem in the last post. Arnika, you say they didn't serve outside at Erjavčeva. Well, you go into the hut, order and take it out. Where's the problem?

Regarding payment of parking fee or tax, I agree, since I come from Styria and every km gained by car is welcome. Although elsewhere - e.g. on Planina Pecol below Montaža they don't collect parking fees, but charge some tax in the hut or in front of the hut if you eat your own food there. Regarding service in mountain huts or outside them, this: some of us older ones are used to the times when they didn't serve at tables in huts, after all a mountain hut is not a restaurant.

Bravo to Mosovnik and Felix. They hit the nail on the head. I also follow the principle of getting as high as possible to the starting point by car, if possible. LP

First of all, congrats on the excellently designed portal. 25 years ago I climbed Jalovec from Tamar and on the saddle (directly below the summit) I slipped... After 50-70 m I stopped in a crevice (deep about 2 m and wide about 0.5 m) between rock and ice. Everything ended exceptionally luckily, I still climbed to the top, but didn't take photos of the saddle and that gully below me. I'd be grateful if someone sent me those photos. As we can read, the legendary caretaker of the Shelter under Špičak has passed away. Rest in peace.

True, there are few like that, fewer and fewer.. Missing "guides" who note when you leave the hut.. well, for good mood, for atmosphere, for smile... Rest in peace..

Yesterday afternoon descending from Mangart, looking across Loška Koritnica and the king of the Julian Alps invites me to his slopes in a flash. I call Zdenec, who is right on it. Rozka arrives in Planica too, was nearby and we go to Tamar in the cold morning. Almost at the hut, the first sun rays lick the crystalline mountain. No stopping and we hurry to the goal. Snow conditions are excellent, track made for walkers and skiers, just the "ozebnik" way up high. But we are diligent and reach its entrance soon. We gear up with crampons, ice axes, helmets and step into the snowy slope. No worry that anything flies from the top, just wind now and then lifts dry snow moistening our hot faces. At the top of the icefall, the sun greets us and a great view. Above Jezerca, Zdenec and I drop skis, then bite into hard snowy slopes of the winter path to the ridge. Good, what good, excellent going since steps already made. We do not dawdle much on the ridge and soon are at the point higher than the summer one. Excellent conditions, excellent view. Another guy arrives up, we share impressions of the great day. Half the path is done, now the other half awaits. We descend slowly and carefully, because the depths of the Loški gully are so dark they do not tempt us at all. Down at the skis we congratulate each other again. Zdenec and I ski down, Rozka is already ahead. Down at the icefall entrance we say goodbye. The skiing is great. The taste of the first drink in the hut has not yet settled when Rozka enters. We order again and toast the great ascent, nice day perfect 10 as Zdenec says.
