Nice and quite long tour for this summer heat, when even in forest it's boiling like in a pot and probably on top barely under 20 C. One needs to carry lots of water.
Bravo. Nice pics you sent us.

Though I've been up 4 times this year, can't escape long-year tradition. After yesterday's bit longer tour, such short ascent to the guy from the parish, as @jaz calls it and of course can only agree fits well. Started at Flori, past hunter hut and up to Mali kot (markers made some confusion there, so apparently some can't even find to Špička anymore). To not be too fast I grazed all bushes along the way and still reached top in good 3.5 hours. Nothing special on path, if hot just undress a bit, people little or almost none. On return stopped at Špička, chatted a bit with friendly caretakers, then back down. That hour passed quick, in forest nicely warm, so could walk toplessnasmeh.

I already went to Špička yesterday where I did acclimatizationnasmeh. This morning to the top and past Ozebnik. I went to check over Jalovška škrbina and then down with bigger and smaller stops.Met interesting people from eastern Slovenia. They knew all the hills around there.Probably met you too Igor. I think we almost arrived at the parking together. Then I went to check Soča and Kugy monument and more.

Would you spend a weekend in the shadow of Jalovec2

@Jany, maybe you're interested, I got a pic on hribi.net that nicely shows ascent to Jalovec, blue line marks the path to Jalovec, green dot, that's you when you didn't know where, see pic: right arrow, would go towards Tamar, bottom arrow that's you. Since I don't know the path exactly myself I drew it approx on the pic. Hope I helped

Now that the weather cleared, I know. When I descended via Goličica, I should've gone over the notch to Tamar, yes that's it.
Anyway thanks and LP.

Today we went up from Planica over Kotovo sedlo to Jalovec and then returned the same way. Those who left the car at the hut in Tamar received a notice from the rangers, so it was worth walking half an hour more in one direction.

Yesterday we went from Vršič to Jalovec. The path is very poorly marked when you rise above the forest line towards Goličica or Mali kot. Luckily good hikers set up cairns. So at least you know where to go. When you come out of the Goličica wall it's the same story..very poor markings. There you need to keep more to the left and climb the scree to the glacier. Weather was phenomenal, quite some people.

Hello,

I would like to ask for information on what the situation is with the snowfields on the path from the top of Jalovec towards Kotovo sedlo?
Thanks in advance,

Regards

Because mornings high up in the mountains are in our view the most beautiful thing you can experience, we decided to scoop up this experience with a big spoon today nasmeh after spending the night at the Shelter under Špik. So we chose an XXL-long mežikanje approach to Jalovec and arrived in Loška Koritnica already yesterday afternoon. Walking the road passes quickly, warming up on the cables even quicker, then path through the forest, when it starts thinning, real thicket…maybe someone would say the path is poorly maintained, needs cutting, sawing…we liked it though…nasmeh…so wild and primal and it seemed like some path forgotten by all…(long pants are mandatory gear here mežikanje). After finishing that, followed the last part of ascent to pass Čez Brežice, where we took a longer rest. Then ascent to Škrbina behind Grad and descent to the shelter. We were the only guests, evening passed quickly chatting with the nice caretakers, jota was excellent nasmeh….(For some maybe important notice: no more radler in stock zadrega, beer still available jezik, stocks of course not replenished anymore, as they close presumably last weekend in September.)…Today we woke up in a wonderful morning, in which we enjoyed endlessly, ascent to the top, then descent over Kotovo sedlo back to Loška Koritnica valley and the circular path was completed.
On the whole way up and down we didn't meet a human soul, four joined us at the top, but we experienced real “animal zoo” nasmeh…met chamois, ibex, squirrels, jackdaws….and all had to be watched and admired, so our schedule (according to “norm”) stretched a bit zadregazavijanje z očmi…but we had a wonderful time!!!nasmeh

I'm interested in Jalovec from Tamar for Sunday 25.9.11 now that it has snowed, what do you recommend, is it to go or not?

Thanks.
