Hi, today we were up there and there is really very very little snow, only in some shady areas. Ice axe useful there, crampons no need to use. It was really very cold and strong wind blowing. Otherwise excellent day with beautiful viewsmile

Planica - Tamar - Jalovec Couloir - Jezerca - Jalovec and back. Snow starts below couloir entry, new only few cm, and that melts fast. Ice axe and crampons essential. Wow how nice it was.

I'd ask if there's snow to Kotovo sedlo or winter gear needed. Is the path that at 1500m turns right past bivouac to saddle dry?
Thanks for reply.

Nature that takes your breath away. What I missed in the past that it took so long and missed nice days but time will come when I can enjoy beauties in our beautiful Slovenia.

@mountain lover, I myself started going into the mountains only about four years ago and I often ask myself the same question as you, why not earlier.
These pictures from Jalovec are really as @MajaO wrote - omg, they are truly wonderful.
Our mountains in Slovenia are really beautiful, they literally enchanted me and I can't help thinking about them every single day, multiple times a day.
That whiteness, footprints in it, takes your breath away, you wish you were there.

Well, those pics from "potepuh" really tempted me and I had to go to our "stone arrow" too. velik nasmeh

Snow in the couloir is frozen and walking on it is super. Now you can walk in the footsteps made by "potepuh" like on stairs. jezik Just watch out for falling rocks from the top, since the ridge is almost bare. Smaller bits of icy snow and rocks were falling down all the time. And there was even a bigger rock that missed me by no more than a couple meters (good I stopped when I saw it rushing at me eek ). On the way back everything was calm... not even a pebble fell down. zavijanje z očmi

Above the couloir conditions were fantastic. Snow isn't overly frozen, nor too soft. The only annoying thing is that the path to the top isn't fully snow-covered, which makes crampon walking difficult (which are otherwise mandatory).

It was like a fairy tale.. so fairy-tale that I caught the sunset just before entering the couloir (Tamar was always prettiest to me at night... especially with full moon shining. velik nasmeh )
