@Alesales; I've walked both paths and can objectively claim that if the described path didn't cause you trouble, you can calmly go from Špička towards Mt. Lepotec!

@bernc; the direction is quite right, the path over Jalovško škrbino is relatively exposed where practically only pegs (except some cables) and natural holds help you;
the path past the shelter, however, is much less exposed and thus suitable for descent

mdj super! we also headed to the top yesterday. Start Vršič - over Jalova škrbina; descent past the shelter under Špičkom....great weather and very friendly ladies in the hut under Špičkom

Mdj, I was watching your back the whole way from the Tamar Hut to Planica. I remember your blue helmet, about which I was wondering to myself (enviously) if you had been to Jalovec . Great pics!

On Friday, 7.9.2012, we headed along the mentioned path to the top of Jalovec. Morning fog limited the view, but once above it, beautiful vistas of neighboring peaks stunned us
The path is quite long, but terrain variety makes it very interesting. Summit climbing is thrilling, yet enjoyable

Ascent successful, morning weather a bit cloudy and foggy, cleared around 11. Little snow below summit in sheltered spots. In short, with a little more caution no problem. Regards, Dave

what do you think,
this weekend, elsewhere rain up there snow. !!?? I'm interested in the weather on 25.9. on Jalovec.
No time before, don't want this wonderful mountain out of plan. What do you suggest for this Saturday and Sunday???
Otherwise hike in mountains in summer conditions.

On Saturday rain, on Sunday rain with snow, today on Jalovec five degrees, SE wind 68 to 70 km/h. Tomorrow conditions for Jalovec at least by forecast. Safe and happy on path.

If someone goes to Jalovec or Ponce from Planica, park the car there and don't go to Tamar, because it's forbidden and they stick police notices. Then you get a fine. lP.

There is a sign and we've known for a long time that it's forbidden to drive to Tamar. Those 3/4 hour walk is just right to warm up.

Well, the day came when I too can write "today first on Jalovec". It succeeded me, succeeded my whole today's team. Already yesterday afternoon we go to Tamar where we overnight. In the morning at 5 am before the hut our lights shine and all eyes are on the dark sky. Heavy gray clouds cover the valley and promise nothing good. But optimism does not leave us, we decide to go at least to the bivouac on Kotovo sedlo, then be what will be. The path to the bivouac passed quickly for us, although at certain places we feel the soaked ground properly, since it rained yesterday. The view towards the top of Jalovec is clear, although a misty veil has started to cover it. Still we continue and when Mangart lost its cap too, we are determined to go to the top. The fog that was becoming always stronger opened before us as if it wanted to help us not to lose the direction. Maybe it pities us with some sun, but we soon abandon that hope. Safely and securely we reach the top. Although no view, satisfaction and happiness are in us. We sign in, stamp the booklets, when above us opens just enough sky that warm sun embraces us. Just for a moment, but a moment that cannot be described. Below us dense fog again, which opens the path down for us and closes behind us again. As if today this wonderful mountain was intended only for us. After the happy descent it started to drizzle, but warm sun awaits us in Tamar. The day that will remain deep in all our hearts, especially for me, because I know that today without my wonderful friends I would not have succeeded. Thank you!
