Thanks everyone for the congratulations, Jalovec is really king and I myself felt completely royally when standing on it. Zvončica and Božo, I also hope we see each other again.nasmeh

It's really interesting and nice how we recognize each other like this on the forum or spread friendship in such a pleasant way.mežikanje

I already found the answer. Climbed route with help of some fixed protections (right there where they should be) is wall of Goličica. Yay, quite an action, no problems, nice white rock unlike descent to Špiček which is scree, but still with some caution completely manageable.

Gorskideček aka Božo, it really was fun.

Signposts with directions surely for dusting and painting and will be all shiny newly placed next year.velik nasmehmežikanje

Be nice to me, Saša

I wish all of you the beauties of Jalovec. I myself last Thursday, after a long wait for good weather and a good forecast, went up via Kotovo sedlo intending to go down via Škrbina. But it turned out the man had a cap all day above 2,200, fog that you could cut. Absolutely nothing from the views, not a second, not even at the saddle in Log pod Mangartom. Now I read your posts the day before and the day after ...
Enjoyable climbing pleasure, wind in gusts, some snowflake in between, occasionally quite dark. Orientation in fog demanding, twice on ledges I went ahead when I should turn up, but turned back in time, one I then blocked with stones. Met only one bearded guy who didn't even greet back, ok. Since I haven't gone over Škrbina yet, I returned preferably the same way. Still need to go up.

"sernoz" you know, it's always excellent for some, good for others. Weather and meeting and admiring wildlife are the only things in mountains you can't order. More reason to return sometime to the king of mountains, Kotovo sedlo awaits me too.

I fully agree that some renewal of markings wouldn't hurt.

Hi...
I'm interested in the conditions for Jalovec this Saturday (20.10.2012). (snow, trail passability and which is the easiest, not too exposed and well protected)

Thanks

If you haven't gone up in summer, I don't know why you'd go now. Assuming first time?

Jalovec is nice in summer and Jalovec is nice in winter. In summer you approach and in winter you ice climb.
Now it's right in between and not nice at all.

Today with a colleague we did the ascent to Jalovec. The path led us over Kotovo sedlo to the summit, descent was via Jalovška škrbina. On the western side of Jalovec conditions fully winter. Snow about 20-30 cm, snow nicely hard so crampons and ice axe sang with joy mežikanje. On the southern side slush, so quite varied on descent to the bivouac.mežikanje Weather fantastic.
p.s. Greetings to the group that stopped in Tamar Friday evening, too bad you didn't make the summit, in such conditions you need winter gear, next time, it'll wait for us.....

best regards

Aleš
