What a monstrous rockfall that must have been. Obviously even worse than before my visit to Jalovec, judging by Franci's photos.

Hi, does anyone know if there's still any snow or other peculiarities on the route from Tamar?

I have the same question, but for the route via Zavetišče pod Špičkom. Thanks in advance

I'm also interested how it is with the path past the Shelter to Jalovec. Is the path already passable without winter gear? Has anyone walked this path these days?

The Shelter caretakers say that according to latest info winter gear is still needed.

I went yesterday from shelter without gear (helmet, crampons, ice axe). Up and down it went ok. On the path is 20m snowfield that needs to be crossed. Footprints in snowfield are imo deep enough that you don't need gear but some turned back.

You've bragged well, it's a shame to go and write this publicly! They asked for winter gear, which maybe you really don't need (ice axe always welcome), but you also added without helmet. That must always be!

redbull, above someone asked for conditions and I wrote as it is. I forgot the helmet at home, not on purpose. If I had assessed it as too dangerous, I would have turned back and gone another time.

But that snow field is right above the Loški couloir so if you don't have an ice axe you can slip quite a ways down..

What are the latest conditions like, is that snow field any smaller?

On Tuesday I went over Kotovo sedlo and bypassed the snow field below the summit on the upper side, no problem. I had an ice axe but preferred to go around it, seemed much safer.

Hi, interested if anyone has info on who placed the crown on top of Jalovec? Was it put up by PZS? Or arbitrarily by insta-hikers? Has TNP ranger been informed / checked it out? What's your opinion on the new installation on the summit of a mountain that's a symbol of Slovenian mountaineering? I think the crown should be removed immediately and keep our mountain tops clean for our descendants. best, jaka

And why didn't you take it down like the left piksno from the pear? You can see it's just an ordinary tin sheet.

Hehe Darinka, they stopped me too at such a time and confidently made me blow...then the cop looked really stunned at 0.0...I was like "What isn't clear to you, am I not going to Swiss moms from the party?" Jaka, you can check with TNP, I'd say without their approval. In recent years lots of crosses have been put up on many summits...probably lots of unauthorized ones. Well, once Aljaž Tower was also black construction...but those were different times and above all different purpose...

No idea who brought that crown up there. They were stopping in Bazari. Before Šempeter. Good thing I put the backpack right on the back seat, because he saw it when he lit up the vehicle. Well then he agreed that you go to mountains early Otherwise they were quite correct. Never made me blow. Wouldn't even know how. Several foreigners I met below the summit were asking where to go to Tamar. Had no idea where to go. No wonder they get lost then.

So that false news do not spread, Aljaž Tower was no black construction at all! Jakob Aljaž bought the plot on top of Triglav for that purpose and erected the tower on his own land.

He really built it on his own land... but "pro-German" officials demanded demolition because he had no permit to erect it. He avoided it with the excuse that "the weather would take care of it in a year or two anyway". The officials luckily forgot about the matter later

Trobec, it wasn't about the permit. Aljaž wrote in his memoirs the following: Because of the tower I had a lot of lawsuits. The Germans sued me that I destroyed the underground first-order triangulation point, which wasn't true, because 40 years ago civil engineers placed only a wooden pyramid on Triglav summit for measuring, which weather accidents destroyed. We know how it ended, the tower became a protected triangulation point and the Germans lost the lawsuit.
