I was there last weekend, and it was possible to get to Jermance without problems.

Bravo lijaneja. True, the path from Kamniška Bistrica to Jermance warms you up just right!

I agree with you, lijaneja and maucec40, but the info that one can get to Jermanca doesn't hurt anyone. It's true that from home at Kamniška Bistrica to Jermanca on foot in under half an hour, so it almost doesn't pay to drive up, but it depends where one goes; if further from the saddle, maybe better to have the car closer jezik

Does anyone have contact of the caretakers, because I'm interested if the hut at Kamnik Saddle will be open tomorrow;

It's closed in winter.

On nice weekends it's often open even in winter time. Best to call the caretaker for exact information.

Oh, great, then we gotta go up there. The number is listed on the PZS page, and on the PD Kamnik one too.

Usually on the PD KAMNIK website on Fridays they post if the hut will be open over the weekend. This weekend it will, so Sandra, no more excuses... and enjoy! I recommend crampons, as from Pastirci it can be quite icy - it was last weekend!

Oh super, it'll be open, I'm going up anyway, but it's still better if the hut is open nasmeh I called Dom v Kamniški Bistrici but they don't know yet if it will be open, thanks for the info; there's a wrong phone number for the hut caretaker on the Alpine Association of Slovenia site zavijanje z očmi

Did anyone go from Kamniška Bistrica over the weekend? What are the conditions? Thanks

Up to 1200 m it's dry, from Pastirci onwards I felt safer with crampons. Snow was hard and didn't break through. Above Pastirci everyone I met used crampons downhill and uphill.

Below chains are useful, up real ones — especially downhill. Little snow, advise against tobogganing (too hard too).

With small foot crampons and skill, could slide down the gully almost to V klin, but repeat, really little snow.

You can reach the saddle without crampons too, back down small crampons are enough, snow really hard and not much;

Of course, but it's not that comfy or safe. You can get up there barefoot too, but I haven't seen anyone like that.

You don't even need to slide very far:

"Although conditions were wintery and he had no crampons, he managed to climb over Šraj scree and continue below the walls of Vršiči.
Things got complicated again following Murphy's law when he slipped crossing the scree under Vršiči. It led to a fall and sliding down steep snowless but frozen scree that could have been fatal for a mountaineer. He stopped the slide after about 30 m with his ice axe, but got severe abrasions and bruises during it, and a rock he dislodged hit his head."

I don't know exactly what this forum's purpose is.. if someone asks how to get to the saddle, I think everyone has the right to answer, right lynx??? Definitely you can get safely to Kamnik Saddle without crampons, for descent it's better to have them anyway?!!!! We're not debating Triglav or Jalovec or whatever, right? Like Juš wrote in another thread, pointless messing with comments, so we who were there won't report current actual conditions anymore, you educate everyone here with theory!jezik

Am I limiting that right? I just warned that it's not uniform, so generalizing is dangerous. zavijanje z očmi

You gotta realize this is a very visited public forum and some eager beaver like in Jani's case could easily read it and go up poorly equipped, e.g. in pink Crocs. At Jalovec no worry, but KS is very popular.

Well let's be real, nobody here thinks about pink Crocs.. the point is you can get to the saddle without or with hiking (small) crampons, that was my writing's purpose, so no one who wanted to go up gets scared if they don't have proper at least 14-point crampons etc. The rest is individual's judgment, and yeah it depends a lot on how one handles on snow, even on grass someone can fall and get bruised.. no doubt mežikanje
