Depends on at what time you decide for the saddle. Most dangerous is the section from the hut downwards, first 300m. For continuing, you don't need crampons,

Today cloudy, here and there the sun peeked a bit, no wind... snow starts at Pastirci... already in the morning everything south to the top... no need for any winter gear...
P.S. ..if it goes on like this, soon no snow...

Nice pictures, but can't vertical ones be posted in a format where the whole is visible on the screen (17"), without having to scroll each up and down to see the whole. And the picture looks even nicer when seen in full. That's how it is on big sites, but maybe it could be done. I know it's more work.

Has anyone been up there by chance in the last two days? On the camera it looks like very little snow... how is it in practice? Is full winter gear needed or can one get there also without ice axe and "the proper" crampons?

Don't let snow be the measure (it's melted), in the mornings these days dangerous frozen ground, especially right under the hut, so stick to the little path.

Tour completed today. To the scree the path is completely dry, no snow, mud etc. On the path across the scree some snow patches, passable without issues. In the afternoon hours, when that snow started melting, bigger problem was slippery mud forming on the path. Otherwise wonderful day, clear, until 11h completely no wind, then it started strengthening slowly. Temperature-wise, in forest to scree quite enough "švic" long-sleeved shirt, on top some insulated shell... (on path were seen heroes both in shorts and sleeves as well as those in winter -30° down jackets)
There were already some mountain runners.

29.4.2017 - Path from Pastirci onwards a bit "sugared", but as seen on the webcam it's gone as it came... otherwise no special features, just some more streams than usual and some path sections a bit more "washed"...

On Saturday, 6. 5. 2017, the path was already completely dry. The hut was open, serving only drinks.
