Is it not too recommended to head up there one day now? The weather isn't forecasted to be great either ...

According to my info, the path to Jezerska Kočna from Ravenska Kočna via Kremžar path is bare, snow-free and dry. So with suitable weather there shouldn't be any problems.

@benson: as I wrote 'problem' only last cca 20m below Jezerska Kočna where snow was a bit frozen and good to have at least ice axe - was 19.10. Otherwise end of video I posted shows how much snow up there week ago. Don't know now because quite warm last days.

The path is bare, talked to hikers who were up Saturday. All paths bare and dry.

On Saturday below both. Despite 2nd avalanche level, south slopes avalanching all day. Avoided Kokrska, turned back below Jezerska too because of big chute under summit, ascent not safe now and for a while. Pics with descriptions: Picasa

Borrowed one of your pics and put it up, wonder if anyone has experience with that approach to Grintovec from the west side?

I'm interested if someone can tell me and show pics where the winter route goes and how demanding it is.

Here's a pic of Kocna, taken from Grintovec, and the most logical variant drawn in to Jezerska Kocna. For Kokrska, I don't know, maybe someone else will give you a pic from up there. Of course, in winter conditions these are alpinistic ascents and very demanding, both fitness-wise and technically, and require appropriate knowledge. Lp and stay safe ....

Jedriličar, in summer the path to Kokrska Kočna goes on the lower slopes left past the bivouac under Kočna to the scree and in the middle of the scree left to the wall. How it is in winter, I don't know, because I don't dare, I don't have so much knowledge.

What do I know, if it's alpinistic to j.kocna

Similarly in winter past bivouac, through scree but not left to wall but along wall up gully, where a bit before end turn right (mark.). You have also some other variant here, but needs right snow Lp D

Thanks, I already imagine where this path is, but it's still too demanding for me, I'll drink a bit more schnapps and gain some experience then gooooo.

@smatjaz: I know the summer paths to Kočne, I've walked them already, but here it's about winter variants with no relation to summer. For example, that winter path to J. Kočna is a scree chute in summer and you wouldn't get halfway up it. So I said I don't know winter paths to K. Kočna, but from the picture you can conclude a variant, but better info or picture with drawn path from someone who knows ...

@redbull: alpinism definition: alpinistic ascent is climbing unmarked unsecured steep mountain terrain where alpinistic gear and technique are used for belay and progress. Ropes and snow pitons are not necessary for a winter ascent to be in the alpinistic category. Today tech allows slopes once only secured to be climbed free as pie, of course winter conditions, summer is different. So my claim that such ascents are alpinistic stands, because it no longer relates to hiking, and in winter conditions you won't reach the top without technical gear, so you meet the alpinism definition conditions....
