Mali and Veliki Snežnik

From the Bistrica side it's best via Mali Snežnik from Grda draga, because on the usual marked path from Sviščaki logging is currently underway and the road is closed this week - access via the forest variant above the mentioned road is possible.
On Monday the reverse situation - road opens, forest path closes.
Quieter variant is from Loška dolina via Gašperjev hrib.

25.6 we were on Snežnik. Quite a few people, weather rather bad, but we still saw the seanasmeh

On Sunday 28.6. we found a photo lens and camera bag in front of the hut on Snežnik. Whoever misses them, call 041234373.

Yesterday we went to Small and Big Snežnik a bit differently. Since we like walking we started right from Mašun. Nice asphalt road takes us there. Large parking and nice inn with mini golf. The inn is a real museum of various worn-out chainsaws. From there we headed to Snežnik on European trail E6. About 20 min more on macadam then turn right onto this marked path. To Big Snežnik it's quite a long way. With breaks nearly four hours. Path initially quite damaged from recent storms and bit steep. We walk thick two hours through nice beech forest. Hear foresters working. When beech forest ends, quickly into dwarf pines which actually overgrow both Snežniks from 1300m. Nice little path. Dwarf pines nicely cleared, no bother. After good three hours or bit more arrived at Small Snežnik. Here marker with height. Now just half hour nice path to Big Snežnik. Hut closed weekdays now. Beautiful views to Kvarner with islands, Učka and our side to Vremščica awaited us. At top stamps, windmill, pity logbook wet, torn and full -mountaineering society covering Snežnik seems forgotten the logbook. Down we went straight via Sviščaki. Back on this macadam thick four hours. In between see notice when hut open. Had nice day. Now end of summer still last mountain flowers-edelweiss, bellflowers, gentians, marsh gentian and more -kidneyvetch already done blooming.
Morning in Mašun. I took pictures of Mašun on the return because at six in the morning it was still too dark.1
There is a pleasant inn here.2
Even a wooden bear greets us.3
They have it nicely arranged. From here we can drive along the gravel to Sviščaki and to Veliki Snežnik it is only two hours.4

I was there today. The path is snowy from Sviščaki onwards. Snow mostly southern-facing, so it mushes underfoot. Slippery going down. Crampons useless because they ball up. It was foggy and very windy today (in the morning). Lp Majda

I was there today from the direction of Pudob towards Sviščaki. The road is impassable for the last 5 km to the top, so I suggest the direction from Ilirska. Or you can park there at the hut and walk those 5 km (ca. 40 min) to Sviščaki. There is still snow on the path to Snežnik, in the morning icy in places, towards the afternoon southern snow.

I was around those areas so after a long time went to see Snežnik castle.
Snežnik I saw only from afar.

Approx from Mašun up. Snow all the way (wet, sometimes crusty, no hard ice), today barely trodden to ridge. Two went to Little Snežnik, really rough wind stopped us continuing.
