Snežnik 20. 2. Today it was in the sun all day. And warmth. We needed crampons for ascent and descent. At the hut very calm and warm. We sat outside for quite a while. Sadly the bivouac interior is in poor condition and lots of trash inside. Otherwise saw no one except one skier just ascending as we descended.

Snow is softened in places, hard elsewhere.

It will be like this for a while longer.

For weekend 23.-24. hut on Snežnik closed due to forecasted very strong bora.

Snežnik was lagging behind from all the peaks I've climbed recently, so it was just a question of time until his turn. I realized that almost 17 years have passed since the last, only ascent.
It didn't stay in my memory as a peak that attracts and needs to be climbed multiple times. Well, since Sunday I don't think so anymore nasmeh

Wonderful views already on the path, from when you ascend from the forest towards Mali Snežnik and then first direct your gaze towards his Big Brother, who majestically rises before you. Over the summit we descended via another path, which joins the previous one right there where on the ascent you head towards Mali. That part was almost untouched in the morning, in the shade, we followed only some old snowshoe tracks. Unfairly M. Snežnik is neglected, on Sunday we saw no one who climbed to the summit via it.

On the way back we also visited Petelinjsko Lake, which adorns the appearance of Sv. Trojica looming above it. All the way there we could admire the snowy peak of Snežnik, which rises very picturesquely there on the edge above Pivška kotlina.

Really nice, in this combination surely even nicer! I'm convinced that winter time is when Snežnik shines the most nasmeh

To the left of Učka, the Kvarner Bay looms.

Those rocky formations attracted the gaze.

The climbers had their assembly day here on Sunday.

I identified it as the Croatian Snježnik.

We all went up there, but there was no real view.

Carar or Cikovt, one of these two for sure.

Saturday, 9.3.2019

Only halfway back did we meet the first hikers, surprising for a hill with quite a lot of visitors. Maybe we were too early, if starting at 8:30 can be called early. Below the path is iced over, above hard frozen snow. At least it was, today probably all different. On the way to Sviščaki I heard the song 'Klub ljudi z resnimi težavam' by Zmelkoow on the radio, during the ascent I often thought of the locals of Notranjska forests. And I started humming under my breath: "Medvedi so in medvedi bojo, seveda, klinc jih gleda". Princeska looked at me askance several times, as if she knew who it was about. During the ascent we experienced a weather change, unfortunately for the worse, on the descent nothing special happened. Overall a quite pleasant trip nasmeh

Yesterday on Snežnik. Sadly picked wrong week for this hike.
Below path slightly icy, towards top "trampled" snow, so crampons excellent aid velik nasmeh

At top visibility "top-notch" :P (about 3 meters, I'd say) blowing like mad, rain nicely "washed" us, hut unfortunately closed.

@damjan85, on the FB page they post, I think every week, if the hut is open on weekends.

The hut on Snežnik will be closed for the weekend 6.-7. and weekend 13.-14. April.

Well, the hut was open yesterday and full. On the path still some patches of snow, which are not bothersome. Nice, not strenuous trip in the sun and with little wind. I've delayed the revisit quite too long ...

The hut on Snežnik will be open during May Day holidays. Little snow, and only above Obračališče. More in the pictures.
