The "path" to the top was well trodden. And worked on in some places...zmeden

Drago's ascent report motivated me to climb Kopa once more this year.
Ascent via Jerebič on the upper path, descent on the middle. Snow is deep in places, so gaiters are more than recommended. That large gully on the upper path is snowed in, but can be ascended without crampons.
Weather of course...perfect.velik nasmeh

Yesterday 26.12.2015 we were on Matkova kopa. Starting point farm Perk-Jerebičje, Matkov Grintavec, Matkova kopa and back. Excellent tour to end 2015 nasmeh

Bravo guys.
A solid and long final hike, which is really beautiful. Especially in such nice weather. But starting from Perk makes the whole thing much longer. The road from Matk was probably snowy.zadrega Although the 4th picture looks like someone was up there with the car.

JTrogar, thanks for the info. We drove all the way to Perk because we wanted a slightly longer tour. The road from Matk towards the top of the saddle was quite snowy. Someone really was up there with the car, as seen from the tracks. It was a wonderful day for mountain wandering!!!

On Tuesday to Matkova Kopa from Matkove Krnice. In the summit section we turned to the Austrian side and climbed up from there to the top. Need to scramble a short jump. Descent on the south side. No snow anywhere anymore of course. Nice day.

I was especially happy about today's ascent to Kopa, since I decided to descend on a path I hadn't known before.mežikanje
Up the "middle" one, descent on the "upper", but only to Matkovo sedlo. Then past the shepherd's hut and on faint remains of an old trail into the valley. The trail is followable about halfway, then it becomes almost pathless. zavijanje z očmi If the other three paths I know are satisfactorily followable, this one surely surpasses them in difficulty. Really tough terrain.nasmeh

I reached the junction with the middle path on this new path for me. Then I just continued left and arrived at the car in 25 minutes.

And in between, some path branch can be noticed that needs to be explored...

The upper one exits on the "macadam" at the first clear right bend above Matk. On those meadows you missed the left branch across the gully and came down to the middle path.

Exactly. I looked from the grass to the salt lick below, but didn't feel like going back up to the junction I'd missed before. mežikanje
