Montaž

Jax: Going up you see enough of them. For descent you have to turn back to see if you're still approximately there. Otherwise it's more or less one variant to go straight through nasmeh

On Sun. we arrive at Nevejo, goal for us is via Julia to Kanin, there we find out gondola not running, obviously end of season. What now? Pecol is close, didn't know it's so popular and we barely parked. Past Brazza to Špik Hude police in under 2 hours, then descent via path A.E. Leva which we like a lot, technically not hard, exposure not too much to us. Most dangerous under Pipan's ladder where crowds pouring down (Slovenian bus too!) we caught the moment between two groups, while three Croats pissed off.mrk pogled as they waited half hour for ascent. At top around 2pm few people, obviously we were among latest, turned out very good, and happy because we were 1st on this mighty mountain..nasmeh

Was there last Sunday. Went up and down Pipan ladder, some snow on path no big issues, few spots bigger drifts, top shady frozen snow had to watch it. Recent snow think ascent harder, temps much lower than prev snow, Triglav pics prev section show lots snow.

Today at midday Montaz was quite white, despite high temps compacted snow in shady spots.

In the summit area there is still plenty of snow. The snowfields under the lojtra were hard frozen in the morning, so without crampons it was not possible. I went up the right slopes of Vrh Brda. There is also plenty of snow on the ridge to the summit. I descended via the lojtra and below encountered a narrow and about 5 m deep slot, which I widened a bit with the ice axe to push through the rocks to the snowfield. I continued the descent on the A.E. Leva path (in the gullies there are still some smaller snowfields, where the ice axe is highly recommended), and descended pathless from Škrbine nad Cijanerico to the Brazza hut.

I got up too late for Igor nasmehnasmeh to meet, and then I was delayed quite a while among the marmots above the pasture. But the snow had softened enough by then that I didn't need gear, and footprints were already there. On the way back I bypassed the lojtra on the left side looking downhill. It was another nice day.

Finally a suggestion for all those endlessly debating tolls and parking fees. Drive to Pecol, enjoy the scents of mountain flowers, climb at least half an hour below Montaž, sit among marmots and chamois. It's all free and the world will be nicer right away. No hard feelings and best regards.nasmeh

I'll allow myself instead of PFranci, when climbing to the Strmali summit look left, unmissable, worth a looknasmeh

Hello, on Saturday morning (Friday late evening) I planned to go to montaz via Amalia. First I'd like to ask Franc and Igor if they think this path is already passable, then if by chance someone who would enjoy this path, so we could use each other's car (so we could descend to planina pecal that way). lpnasmeh

Amalia is still quite snowy and will be in the future too, both the central gully and the scree under the North tower etc. - so with winter gear.

The crossing from Rame to bivouac Suringar could also be tricky, where the path is most exposed.

It's not a question directly for Montaž, but anyway. Maybe someone knows what the conditions are on the path Pecol- Špik Hude Police? I'm especially interested in dryness.. thanks

I was at ŠHP on 26. 6. 2013... and the trail was nowhere near dry. There was still quite a lot of snow just below the saddle and more and more towards the top. Given the weird nature this year and the fact I was there 4 days before the photo was taken, I allow the possibility that all the snow has melted completely mežikanje
