Up there no one, only nasty Karst shepherd dog, wherever I went on top of Nanos, followed me behind fence and barked. Guarding transmitter facility, his territory. In end childishly teased him, so from barking only howled more rarely. Karst shepherd is German shepherd bitch Neca, very friendly and cuddly doggie, but obviously has refined taste, as your last sentence proves.

Today nice ascent with kids from hunter's hut to St. Hieronymus. All nice and right only abnormally many ticks! Also those "butcher's". We walked on path all the time. Anyone else similar experiences? Otherwise we really enjoyed.

I believe you found ticks, since path from hunter's hut to church more forested and grassy than path from Razdrto. On steep and flat path from Razdrto no ticks. Yesterday afternoon on road under Grmada, towards west met black snake.

Snake, which is very common here. It has no venom, but meeting it is still invigorating In Latin supposedly Hierophis viridiflavus. Regards

Today to Nanos steep up and gentle down. Path nice, very scenic. The trip was spoiled by the fact that the hut on top is closed despite PZS saying otherwise. SPP stamp nowhere either.

I'll never understand how a closed hut can spoil a nice trip for some. Well, good we're different. I out of season always look for paths past closed huts...that way at least I know I'll enjoy some solitude...

Accepting differences is just as important as diversity itself! If nothing else, a closed hut can be a big shock for some eager kid. Especially if parents promised "raspberry drink" in hut as extra hiking motivation whole way ... Seriously: jozo, click here, register and log in and write remark in virtual complaint book that PZS "opened" for every mountain station. Maybe PD Postojna will stir?!

In the hut description on the PZS site it also says the following: "The hut is open from the start of June to the end of September from 17:00 on Wednesdays to Sunday evening, in other months on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. For announced groups they open it on other days too." Yesterday was Tuesday... At least for myself, I check before going somewhere how the huts are open. Information is available, one just needs to find it.

Hi, I'm interested how long, at moderate pace, the path from the hut on Nanos to Abram takes. As a child I already walked the path Razdrto-Nanos-Abram and back and know that we took a whole day for that "little trip", on hribi.net I haven't seen a description of this path, so if someone can help me..... thanks

Hi, the path is around 7km long, mostly downhill. You descend from 1243 m.a.s.l. to Abram at 900 m.a.s.l. A medium pace takes no more than 1 h 30 min. If you step more firmly, you're at Abram in 1 h. regards

I'm wondering when RTV thinks to quiet those fans, as it's louder in front of the hut than behind the Šepulje prosciutto place

On Monday I went up by bike and was surprised that the hut was closed. Otherwise, the weather was super and the path too.

On Mondays the hut is closed. I was up last night for a full moon walk, we called the hut and they kindly waited till midnight and let us in. Then back to the valley. Shame it was sometimes cloudy.

Davide and I went up Friday afternoon before rain. Turned onto first steep path because very well trodden. But no other marks except warning that walking on trail is deadly dangerous (next time avoid that path ). Hut open up top, nice lady made tea, then down proper marked steep path. Hurried a bit so rain didn't catch us...Vipava already pouring.

Today I don't know who "struck" more - forecasters or weather itself, at least on the coastal end. Because rain was certainly not forecast for early morning. Anyway - after early duties there we decided for ascent to Nanos, which was just on the way back. Up from Razdrto on steep path and down on gentle one. Path already quite wet below, partly muddy. At first chain first rain drops surprised us, but we optimistically thought no big deal, so continued. All the way light drizzle, rocks slippery, so a bit more caution needed. 15 min before hut poured like mad. When we reached hut we were dripping, so didn't even enter. Waited a bit at entrance, rain stopped as quick as started and we quickly went down to valley. Few drops caught us again just before starting point. Otherwise interesting after many years to reclimb this nice viewpoint - both last up in primary school years .

Whoever visited Nanos today had a nice trip, especially in the morning hours - warm, clear, few visitors. Herd of chamois seen too.
