Today on the gentle path I noticed bear tracks. If going up the gentle path almost at the end of the pine forest (around 800m asl) on the right side of the path you'll see digging tracks. Ten meters before is also a pine where the bear sharpened claws. Highest claw marks on the trunk at ca 2m height, that's quite a beast imo.

Yes velesa, sometimes it blows even stronger than today, you're lucky it didn't carry you to Vipava. Pics are excellent.

On Saturday afternoon, 22.10.2011, we also set off from Razdrto towards Vojak hut. The steeper path was quite muddy at the beginning because the snow was melting in the lower part. At the top a real stormy bora awaited us, so we continued on the already trampled path along the cable line, because the standard detour was too airy and dangerous due to the bora. At the top there was about 15-20cm of snow. We descended via the easier and longer path past St. Hieronymus.

Today on Nanos pure autumn conditions, warm, with occasional cooler gusts of wind. All nature in golden-yellow shades, no trace of snow. Lots of people ( Vojkova koča ), likewise at Abram.

Hi @mary! We also lounged around on Nanos today, it really had lots of visitors. But, we probably arrived a bit later, when the sky was bright blue and no more wind. The return home was so much harder and we delayed till the last. Tomorrow somewhere else chasing the sun, while there's still some somewhere.

We escape the gray fog towards the sun - to Nanos. From Razdrtega to the top via the steep path. Path nice, dry, scenic and varied. At certain spots it gives a high mountain feel. Lots of hikers at the hut. Vojkova koča is SPP point and Zlatorog trail point so I'm surprised by the very littered plain in front of the hut. Around the benches lie plastic bottles, cans, papers and such. Since there were more of us, we squeeze at one bench and along with our trash into the backpack we pick up the bottles rolling under feet. Looking at the trash it's clear they haven't been there since yesterday but for a good while. I wonder, what kind of people go to the mountains? And after all - doesn't this bother the hut keepers at all?(I know you'll say the keeper isn't obliged to pick up others' trash but still probably each of us would pick up trash in our yard even if others left it) And finally - at the hut entrance a sign with the Clean Our Mountains campaign slogan. No bags, but trash as much as you want.

Too bad you didn't photograph it and post on the forum, so the culprits could see what they've dirtied, and uncultured hikers would have the photos as a lesson what not to do in mountains and elsewhere too. Praise to you for the cleanup action.

When driving past Logatec in the morning the sun appears! Yes, always like that in autumn, winter and early spring: a bit out of Ljubljana basin - and sun right away! After getting food and drink at Razdrto Mercator, I park and go. Via steep of course. I knew it's not technically special and indeed it wasn't, maybe just not for complete beginners. Up top at hut entrance I block the path to a little dog with poles who wanted inside and shut the door in front of his snout. He knows well he can't go in! But anyway trying 'maybe it passes - it passes!' Inside I eat half sausage then stroll a bit around the hut. Besides the brave transmitter guard there were many dogs running around. All cute, friendly, no problems! Descend via easier path. Of course stop by St. Jerome then continue descent. Just before end together with another Italian I miss the path to junction (i.e. fork) of steep and easy. Well, we find our way to the parking. Then drive to afternoon goal.

VanSims no offense, but do you really meet so many dogs in the hills? Because sometimes one has the feeling we're not hiking the same hills around, heck not even the same planet I feel.

So anecdotal evidence from 3rd hand for some other hill should count for dog numbers on Nanos? Say I, who visit Nanos often, typically notice 8 dogs if going up Strma. On descent I don't observe dogs, cuz usually tired already. So by my observations the 10-20 figure doesn't hold and misleads.

Don't want another dog fuss again! Going up Strma I met two (a schnauzer and a smaller one), though downhill Strma with dog, well say... Up front of hut three: one retriever I petted a bit and one black and that one pushing in. On descent I met most (normal since easier path), say 5-6. Since I didn't really count, quite possible I saw up to 15 total. Plus transmitter guard dog and we're close to Majina's number

sabina.7, where you turned left (on the second photo), you turned onto the so-called Janez path, which is unmarked, but veeeeery well trodden and followable. Don't know the explanation for the name. If you went right at that junction, then soon left across the scree, you'd go on the unmarked youth path, which reaches the Nanos ridge near the tower. lp

You climbed to the top on the (former and unmarked) Youth path! But this path is quite dangerous due to falling rocks in the gully. You descended on the scree or as locals say pu drči. Yeah skiing... Probably off - especially on this scree...

Thanks Velesa , didn't know those names. I've gone on Janez path many times, to Youth path we got after short scramble. B2 skiing off because no snow or why?

Exactly! Never enough snow in any winter for skiing "pu drči". But this scree was about ten years ago quite pleasant for fast descent to the valley... Now it's worn out and doesn't work anymore... Around that time no trace of the so-called "Janez path" - now it's a disaster there...
