Nanos

pohodnica53, from your photos it looks like the Nanos ascent was not started at Veliko Ubeljsko as described, but at Razdrto. Steep grassy slope part called Pleša. Less steep if you follow marks right after last rocks under Pleša Nanos. Anyway Nanos very visited and popular hikers' peak nasmeh

Thanks for the help Velesa, I thought that village was called Malo Ubeljsko; but with your info you hit two birds with one stone, I was interested in what Pleša is; LPnasmeh

Apparently there is some more direct path from parking: right of water tap. And sometimes I see hikers on that side. Wonder if anyone knows path and where it goes.

Several MARKED! paths lead to Nanos! From Razdrto steep (demanding!) path and gentle one. From Ubeljsko also path and from Stran too. Also from Abram and hunter hut. All listed paths are marked. Steep path marked around Pleša, nice and panoramic and really no need to push up grassland causing terrible erosion... No need up scree nor "Janez's"... Nor "cable" or shortcuts... No hard feelings, safe steps and pleasant on Nanos!

Alright, I really didn't intend to climb up the scree, although it would be a nice workout. I just thought there might be some already trodden path on the eastern side of Pleša, because I've seen people walking there from afar several times.

Pleša has trodden paths from left, right and in the middle.

Yes, to the right of the spring there is a path that leads NEXT TO the scree. 5 to 15 m right of the scree and it's a trodden path - the path right of the scree is physically more demanding than all others.

I go to this hill several times weekly. I walk two paths: the steep standard path and right of the spring - next to the scree.

Janez's path is also trodden, for many years.

P.S.: you CANNOT miss the path next to the scree, goes directly to the top... yeah a bit steep... good for training

@B2 no hard feelings. I'm a local.

Yes, something like that is what I meant. On Sunday I observed those "tracks" from afar and it looks like it's already quite trodden; that's why I'm asking. Otherwise I wouldn't go destroying nature anew. I'll try it at the first opportunity. Thanks for the information.

I would saw those logs on the gentle path and remove them. What do you say? People of course also walk around the logs - on the soil and we're back at erosion. I don't have a chainsaw, but it'll work with hand saw and axe too. I tried to move them by force and it didn't go.zavijanje z očmi

Well, yesterday I was in the hills with my better half and our three little suns. We chose Nanos on the spot, the kids chose the climbing one (from Razdrtega), because I know well that climbing is a real magnet for kids and, since I already know the path, I say. Hit the bullseye, no one was grumpy or tired, all happy..... so we went down the climbing one too. I recommend it, with some experience of course.
Here begins the interesting part of the path for children1

Bravo Karletto!
If you have too much money, just try to continue your doings! Do you know that there is the Mountain Trails Act, valid since 22 June 2007? Let me tell you, this act in Article 25 paragraph 2 stipulates: "A fine of 100 to 1200 EUR is imposed for an offence on an individual who restricts access to a mountain trail or damages, removes or destroys markings, directional signs, stamp boxes and safety equipment or other signs on it and does not provide for their replacement".
I advise you to rather join some repair action for damaged safeties and especially erosion protections, than to think what you wrote...

Before continuing something, you have to start it first.
It's not about any erosion protection or similar measures. The logs are still from last winter, fallen across the path, i.e., on the flat path to Nanos, half a meter high off the ground.

Karletto, if it's as you wrote, I can only praise you!!! I really thought you had tackled erosion protections... So if the path maintainer hasn't removed obstacles for a long time and brought the mountain path to a usable state, the Mountain Trails Act also foresees sanctions for him (mandatory fine and immediate rehabilitation of the mountain path)...

It is possible to do a loop tour, namely up the steep path and down the gentle one. The paths are also named that way - on the directional signs. If you are accustomed to somewhat exposed paths, it would be OK that way; if not, better go to the summit and back down the gentle path. The steep one is equipped with steel cables at exposed spots. Good luck

The steep path is really equipped with wire ropes (and chain), but nothing scary. True, the steep path offers a nice view towards Snežnik, so make the effort. The circular tour back on the gentle path gives you a unique view from the Pleše slopes towards Triglav and the lower Bohinj mountains. Don't forget to check out (by the way) the ancient church of St. Hieronymus, whose "ta pru cahn" dates to 1360 (inscription on the stone pedestal left of the main doors). @Dayna, enjoy your hike!

It started with a light shower, ended with the sun, in between always a pleasant circular path to Vojka's hut. Up the steep, past Hieronymus down. Only at the top it a bit reminded of autumn fogs with wind. Good start for conditioning. Not even muddy, people not too many either. At the end interesting kitchen. Hiker waiting for friends cooking in a pot, probably goulash.
The placards are blurred, the decayed trunk has laid them on the ground.1
Nice detail from the steep path.2
Reminds of the high mountains.3
Looks pretty scary when it suddenly grows out of the mist. You hear it before you see it.4
The hut also has its name.5
Under the misty cover, church of St. Jerome. The last mass this year has already been :)6
If you run out of ideas.7
Nice crossing.8
Approaching the first wind turbine. It'll happen slowly.9
On the return trip it even cleared up completely.10
Really good water, right next to it ..... 11
...that one. Pity, no piece of bread was there. :))12
