For Labor Day we decide on one of the two-thousanders we haven't visited yet. Peca was planned once in May, but the invitation was so tempting that we accepted it right awaysmile.
From Mežica an asphalted path leads us for a while, which changes surface to the starting point in Jakobe (path in excellent condition). Judging by the full parking lot, there will be plenty of visitors todaybig grinwink... expected. Right from the start we took a shortcut that joins the cart track. Soon we reach the hut. But we keep marching on. In anticipation of the ferrata waiting for us. There at the start of the climbing path great views open up, especially on KSA and also KARAVANKEsmile. Wonderful. The climbing path is supersmilewink (dry), for me the first real thing this year --- proper test before the season peak. Some snow on the saddle and of course below the summit. Easy to avoid them, unless you want to touch the snow a biteek. Lounging is nice, but would be even nicer if the sun was more generous. Instead clouds were over us that even the wind didn't dispersesad look. After a good hour of lounging we go down the easier path. At the saddle we split ... with Mojca we go to Mala Peca and to King Matjaž to check if he's still watching his treasure. At the hut tasty food and drink await us, giving new strength. On descent also to see the ten-headed spruce. Which is really uniquesmile. You can't marvel enough at it. A bit more and we're at the starting point.
With heads full of nice impressions we head home. Happy that the weather favored us.
The hut on Peca had quite a few visitors today1

at the saddle beautiful views begin to open up for us3
that wall awaits us to climb it ... it's really fun :-))4

With Simona we climbed Peca on May 2nd. Up from Jakobe on the climbing path (nicely secured and bolted on the sunny side of Karavanke), down on the easier path. At the summit first alone, later some hikers arrived. Path mostly dry throughout, only partially snowy from saddle to summit, but avoidable. Weather changeable (sunny and cloudy) and quite windy. On return longer stop at the hut, where we treated ourselves to a hot drink and excellent Klöče dumplings.
Well, on the ascent at the hut a pleasant surprise – Tina Maze, who had already returned from the summit with her sister. She was in exceptionally good mood, smiling, friendly, ready to pose for photos with everyone, giving autographs – no trace of "star behavior". And that's why I'll always cheer for her.
So yes, the day was really perfect.

You turned the first photo quite a bit.big grin It's not that bad really.
What I notice sadly is that really very few people wear helmets in less demanding walls. The climbing on Peca is a good example, say Konj from Presedljaj, and Komarča...

Yesterday walk to Peca.
As many times this winter, also yesterday on the path Kumer - Peca. Started in sunny morning, when I reached summit it started lightly drizzling. But it was already late afternoon. Path almost everywhere dry, so if no new snow, it will dry quickly, and new snow doesn't stay long now. A few photos and cheers.

Kumer- Kordeževa glava.
Work action and ascent to Peca, nicely combined in nice sunny weather. Snow melts quickly. Peca visited by quite some hikers today. Cheers

Today did a circular path from Topla mine - hut on Peca - summit - Knips saddle - Topla mine.
Path through forest to Dom na Peci a bit drags, but views and sights along the way quickly outweigh. Snow starts soon after crossing the gully (brown moss) and more in forest to summit, no obstacle though and probably gone in a couple of days.
From summit to Knips and further in valley the path nicest, but when crossing plateau edge and descending to valley it's just straight down.
Circular path in opposite direction as I did I wouldn't recommend, unless you really hate your knees. big grin

Personally this path much nicer and more interesting than from Podpeča. Nice views, lots of animals (squirrels, chamois, ravens...), anyway recommend!

Today I visited Peca.
Started near Ledrovčeva chapel, trail dry and firm. On return I cleaned the path again. Storms left me alone till 16h. Then to valley. Cheers.

It's been almost a decade since we first climbed to the top of Peca. The mountain left us with a very nice memory and already then we said we'd definitely return to this summit someday. So it wouldn't be all the same as back then, this time we chose a different path. We parked at the abandoned Topla mine, and full of energy headed up a nicely laid path directly towards Mali Peca. All the way, even through the forest, plenty of greenery and flowers accompanied us, and the path is really nicely routed, as it levels out every now and then so we can catch our breath and prepare for the next steep ascent. At the junction above Mali Peca, we turned left onto the steeper climbing path, because the youngest son wanted to practice walking on more demanding paths and using the via ferrata set. From the mountain top, we descended via the easier path to the hut under Peca, sat there a bit, and then came the obligatory visit to King Matjaž and a quick descent to the valley.

Today I was on Peca via the via ferrata path, starting from Karavla. At the top initially wonderful views, sunshine and complete calm. The path was still a bit damp on the ascent and the cables cold and wet.

An interesting and unforgettable part of the trip was certainly the herd of chamois I spotted below Kordeževa ramba. About 30 in total, from the smallest to the large ones, I've never seen so many together, especially not on Peca. On the descent I also spotted a "family" above me, five or six. Unfortunately they moved away quite quickly, so I didn't even try to photograph them. The hut was open around 10:30 on the way down.

Today I was on Peca, from the south side Kumer - Kordeževa glava. For the path and work I spent ten hours. Of animals I saw only roe deer this time. At 1:30 on top fog, otherwise wonderful day. Lp

Night hike to Peca.
With Stefan a few minutes before midnight we start from Zerjav and via Crna, Pristava and Mihev head to Peca. It was a clear calm night. We reach the top in under three hours. Look around a bit and descend towards Kumr. A bit lower the vegetation gets denser, due to dew the ground is wet. Because of my frequent visits to this path, we had no orientation problems. At 4:30 at Kumr we picked up the things we needed for the path to Olševa. The path poses no obstacles. Lp.
