You can park at Mitnik-888m and you're at the top in three and a half hours. The path is well trodden and doesn't sink. Today it was cloudy and windy, otherwise on Peca it's almost always windy in winter.

From Peca towards Bistriška Špica is probably also trodden? D

I was on Peca. Fog so thick that you could have turned back earlier, you can get lost quickly, but colleagues we met in the evening told me that some young guys were rushing up and got lost- or that slo-aust. GRS is searching for them- hope they found them. Not worth risking, couldn't see a meter ahead. I'll add some pics and report on Monday so time passes in hospital best D

What, to the right? Eastern to M. Rinko?

Where approximately does snow start and how much is there at the top? We plan to go to Peca with Jakob on Saturday if the weather is okay (or as far as normal with the car), and ski back.

At 1000 m, snow is such that no gaiters needed. Hard, especially wind-packed. Best D

What about starting point Rudnik in Topla? Is the road there passable? And the path?

The road is certainly passable, the path probably too with a bit more effort, as there are few hikers from that direction at this time.

This year's winter has heavily covered Peca, on average I think the snow cover is 2 m thick, frozen, but mostly holds the hiker, no problem for snowshoers and ski tourers.

Today conditions didn't allow wandering around Peca, fog was quite thick, so we more groped our way to the Summit (wind is usual guest these days). Best.

But Saturday had great conditions too. I was up, as well as many hikers and ski tourers who occupied Končnikov vrh, which has so much snow we can't seriously think of bare ground for 2 more months.

Domch, K-24 could be done now with good weather conditions, with extra gear, especially now the nights are getting lighter. Lp.

Now I'd go only with touring skis, snowshoes, crampons and don't know what all luggage for the whole shebang . I'm going up again tomorrow to see some beauty.

This week it was really beautiful on Peca, more in the photo collage.

Today via the nicest path to Peca. Rudnik-Mala Peca-Kordeževa glava-Mala Peca-Rudnik. Path dry and bare to halfway, but many fallen trees and branches on path. On descent I removed all branches I could, hands full of resin but in time all but resin. For rest, need motor saw a bit and path ok again. Top still lots of snow ~20cm even new, base not sinking despite high temps even on top. Gaiters and crampons not needed.

Yes, great day on Saturday on Peca. I went with company to Peca from Podpece (from Matjaž's inn). Snow just right, warm sun just right, no wind (except occasional puff on top) - rare - and great views. What more Ice axe welcome after climbing part, otherwise nice kick steps. And two chamois seen into the bargain
