Yesterday I headed to Peca from Podpeča, I started the path a bit higher than Mitnek, around 940m altitude. Didn't need anything for ascent and descent, even gaiters stayed in backpack. Path was nicely trodden and ground hard. At the hut a meter of snow, on top can't estimate as it's blown off, on Kordeževa glava almost none, just a few cm. Around ten when descending, snow in lower areas got really wet, especially logging roads full of mud, in the morning it was still nicely frozen.

Hi, does anyone know if it's trodden from Topla over Knipsovo sedlo to Kordeževa glava? Thanks :p

In my opinion not really trodden, because rarely anyone goes there, except touring skiers. But probably some tracks for sure, to Knips surely, up there might be interesting.

Path from the junction to Mala Peca onwards to the summit still quite snowy, in places up to half a meter of snow that sinks easily. But the path is a bit trodden, so with a little patience you can reach the summit and enjoy the beautiful view.

Path from Topla to the rock where the path turns left to Knepsovo sedlo is dry. Then one snowfield to cross, then to Knepsovo sedlo little snow. From Knepsovo sedlo to summit the snow sinks and there is still lots of snow. Secured path dry. Wires OK. The path from the saddle to Mala Peca and to Topla is also dry except one gully with lots of snow, no crossing issues.

On Saturday on Peca. Circular tour from Topla to Mala Peca and along the secured path up. Descent via Knips, quick hop to Končnikov vrh and back to Topla. Path from Topla to Mala Peca dry except larger tongue in that clogged gully which you go up, but nothing dangerous. Secured path completely dry and dry. Last ascent to Kordeževa glava still quite snowy, you will have the least trouble with snow if you stick to the extreme left direction to the summit. Austrian side still completely in snow that sinks even over the knees in places, especially for Končnikov vrh. On the path from Knips to Topla there is one quite steep snowfield that can be unpleasant in the early hours. Otherwise nice views and nice tour.

Kumer, Peca, Črna (K-24) Path start normally passable, except one fallen tree over path, when path climbs the snowfield starts still with lots of snow, in places it sinks mostly not. Snow accompanies us to Kordeževa glava. From the top another steep snowfield which we can use to our advantage. Continuation to Črna without problems, halfway descent a friendly dog joined us. The closer we were to Črna the more our joy grew. During the path my camera failed. In Pristava the culprit drives up behind us, one of the three inventors of this path Mr. Marijan Lačen, so we could tell him some very "fresh" information about how we were on the path. Also the path conditions.

Today I was on Peca, route Mušenik-Dom na Peci-summit, took the easier variant, path is dry. Safe steps to all!

Kordeževa glava 25.6. – summer Saturday morning promised an enticing experience with ascent to this enchanting viewpoint which with its 2125 m rules over the Carinthian edge of Karavanke, but sadly, the closer we got to Koroška, the more it turned into threatening misty cloudiness. From the hut upwards, where it was full of mountain enthusiasts (Zlatorog transversal), we were already heading into fog crawling through bushes, scree and swirlingly disappearing towards Austrian side; at the top except rare glimpses of sun rays, wind and damp mists smelling of rain, which thickened more on return, the last steps to Jakobe parking were already in rain, in Črna a real thunderstorm with hail raged; but we were glad we chose this shorter variant, otherwise it would have soaked us properly on return. P.s. road to Jakobe parking o.k. drivable; lp

This afternoon from Topla over Knepsovo sedlo to Peca. Return past the hut and along the lower path back to start. Nice path, still lots of people at the hut as there was mass at the chapel today.

Today's day was pure indulgence, both for the views all around, you could see all the way to Triglav, and for the body, because the day was clear, fresh, that's why the ascent to Peca via the climbing path was a good start to this year's high mountains. Peca has never impressed me so much with views before.

Since I still had some gear left from the wet Sunday, which Uroš and I left at Kumru (hiking in the Karavanke), today I did everything in one go. I visited the Peca summit. During the hike I removed some obstacles that were on the path and had been bothering me for a month. Despite the thunderstorm forecast, there were quite a few hikers on Peca. For me everything went according to plan. Lp.

Nice circular route today around Peca: Rudnik in Topla, Mala Peca, Dom na Peci, climbing to Kordeževa glava, Velika glava, Končnikov vrh and descent via path to/from Knipsovo sedlo. Weather mostly sunny with short foggy periods, moderate wind. Due to moisture the path was slippery in places on roots and rocks in the morning, otherwise BP. Met no one to the hut, from there on many hikers. Nice tour, which I'll probably repeat, in this or another variant

GzB: Probably true Tinky: then you'd have to stop at Russian chapel when going to Vršič too, to check if anything changed!!!
