Today we did the spring version of the ridge path to Ratitovec from Soriska Planina. velik nasmeh

We even met a couple of hikers; sun, wind, views and flowers in abundance. nasmeh
On the ridge auricles, speedwell, spring gentian and gentian are blooming right now ...
I even found alpine bellflowers and met the first goats on pasture!

On the ascent before Zbajnek there's some felled trees on the path and you need to watch out a bit. Otherwise the path is no problem and invites you! mežikanje
Nice tour for racking up kilometers and fitness before summer season.

The hut should open tomorrow, Saturday.

Already at five years old I listened to stories about the wonderful Ratitovec. Years passed, Triglav, Grintovec and more were conquered, Ratitovec hadn't come yet. Then finally and now at least once a year. This time Zdenka lured our family, we enjoyed, we'll listen to her more. From Prtovč, up over Povden. Clouds were racing and further colored the views. Spring flowers nice, from gentian, gentian, auricle, also toothwort, alpine bellflower, speedwell and first pasque flowers... Countless unforgettable scenes. In front of the hut we sat, chatted, excellent tea, huge flancati and so good that they ran out. At the top also meeting with great knower of Bohinj mountains Tina. Down towards Planina Pecana, then down and joining the path that comes over Razor. Beautifully spent day with our dears. Path without features, just some mud in places due to recent rain.

Yesterday to Ratitovec on a particularly beautiful but a bit more demanding path, the hunting "over the peaks" as it's called. I've walked it once before, but long ago, and the desire arose againnasmeh.

We somehow missed the right turnoff, so we climbed our own way up steep grasses to the ridge and arrived exactly where the open grassy ridge starts at the forest edge. Gorgeous, peace and quiet accompany the path, the view of steep grasses warns of caution. We were surprised by the flock of swallows flying over the ridge making it even more magical. Past the hut (mandatory flancatnasmeh) we continued to Altemaver and descended past the mine on the path over Razor.

At the church we sat a bit and looked back at the traversed ridge, but from there it's not best seen. You have to go lowernasmeh.

Road to Prtovč plowed to hunting hut, where now also large paid parking. From there on impassable. Along road to Jesenovec poor track beside touring track. From there over Kosmati vrh to Vratc snowshoes or touring skis recommended, as it sinks in. From Vratc past mine to hut and to Altemaver again barely a track. Gladki vrh and path through Razor comfortable track, small crampons useful.

Thanks for vivid report. So safer path over Razor? A bit worried about avalanches, as I don't know these areas. Probably not quite comparable to two-thousanders, but still.

Over Razor no worries, over Povden more "airy" in upper part and can be icy in such conditions.

I could only start at 15:40 from Prtovč. Took thick gloves, which worked well. Better than thinner fitted ones. One ahead but faster. Didn't take poles but they would have been useful. And video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71-ZsGHRTn0

I decided to go to Ratitovec before all trampled. First check in Poljanska dolina, second somewhere in Selška dolina, just don't know behind which bush they were. Road to Prtovč, last 2km smooth, but no problem for old Clio 2. Up there three more cars, one with chains, one offroader and one MPV. Yesterday rained all to top of Ratitovec, hard but rough ice up with 5-20cm dry snow. Returned past hunting hut.

@Hermina, absolutely take small crampons. Some places quite icy, but both slopes above Razor have good steps made. Snow starts from junction of marked paths from hunting hut and Prtovč. Good luck!

I was there Friday after work, up via Razor, down via Poden. From Razor icy, one slope quite exposed, steps already made, met only one hiker.

For the descent we therefore preferred the Poden path, possible without crampons too and obviously more people go there.

Of course crampons and good boots anyway! Good luck!
