Yesterday [we did the] route Vrata-Sovatna-Pogačnikov dom-Razor and return [by the] same way. Weather quite foggy and windy, only at the summit it cleared a bit. If I draw something positive [from it], it spared us frying in the sun. The path [is] nice but full of scree, even on unsecured slabs, so caution [is] advised. The new climbing section [of the path sadly is] becoming a "traffic jam" and like [on] Triglav you experience everything possible and more. [On the] return [we were] cheered by a herd of chamois, [a] specialty here[, and I] hope it stays [that way].

Becar, yes [it's] true, [I] was up [there on] Monday 4.8. and [you] forgot to write [that the] helmet [is] mandatory as stones fly down to [the] scree all the time. Just back today from [a] 7-day trip [in the] western Julijci and when [I've] sorted [them, I'll] post pics ["horned"] mannequins from ca. 10m and exposed spots or snowfields [of] Razor and Jalovec via Slovenska pot.

@pikica1, thanks for the pics, looks like from the saddle to the top the whole path is still under snow. Gotta wait a bit more

Ploha, congrats for the nice tour and even nicer pics. Since my buddy and I have been "eyeing" Razor for a while, can you please share the tour timetable, as your variant seems very interesting and I'd repeat it, thanks.

I was yesterday on Razor but from Trenta. We took 3 hours to Pogačnik. Almost 2 hours to Razor. In between we went to Planja too. About 30 min from the saddle between Planja and Razor.

gandalf, thanks, regarding the time it's like this... if we look at the signposts, quite a bit adds up.. Vrata-Križ 5h, Križ-Pogačnik 1.5h, Pog.-Razor 2h and a bit less back, Pogačnik-Dovška vratca 1.5h, from there over Gamsovca to Luknja 2.5h and then descent to Vrata 2h, but these are times that someone with a bit more fitness can easily reduce considerably. I started from Vrata just before 6 and was already at Aljaž at 1:30 having a beer It's worth visiting Stenar too, which was also planned, but clouds covered it, so I went straight to Križ ... I'll wait till next time lp

Congrats for halving the time you listed. But that's madness for me, I go slower.

On Saturday first time on the razorblade - Razor. Start from Zadnjica past the lower Kriško Lake to Pogačnik Hut, then ascent to Planja saddle and to the summit. Return by the same path. The path to the hut is quite long, but in the morning completely in shade so not hot. The path is a classic mulatiera, but it must be said that there are two very good water springs along the path so no need to carry so much water. First one in the lower part at the start of the cargo cableway and second 10 min below Pogačnik Hut. To Planja saddle the path is over rocks, scree and stones. Particularly unpleasant is the first part over flat slabs, where there is loose scree and stones. A little above Planja saddle I cooled off in a cold cave. The new secured section is short and very well protected, difficulty like the start of Turski žleb or path to Stol from Medvedji dol. One clamp in the middle is a bit overhanging, but nothing too difficult. A bit awkward only the entry to that ledge when going back down. Razor is very crumbly and there are really lots of stones. New collapses threaten. Helmet mandatory, SMV at own discretion. Nice tour, view quite solid, although it clouded over after 11h. Greetings to all we met and talked to.

Was there today, report follows. @Domch: "The new secured section is short and very nicely protected, difficulty somewhere like the start of Turski žleb or the path to Stol from Medvedji dol." Uff, it'll be a bit harder in my opinion. @Edina can tell you how I was jumping on the ledges of the first part of Stol ferrata (B, detail B/C); here not even close. My rating is B/C except the end (A/B). Some detail even C (overhang and just before the end). "Helmet mandatory, SMV at own discretion." I'd say SMV too, especially downhill. Otherwise yes, as some predecessors have found out, the mountain is crumbling, full of scree, danger of falling rocks.

Today on Razor from Vrata over Sovatna ...beautiful autumn day, but not visited in these parts. I was alone, no visitors on any nearby summit. The path is almost entirely dry, only 3x step on snow to the hut, and that can be avoided somehow, further on too .. still everything is crumbling, so you watch if there's some animal triggering it or just by itself.

Hi, Any peculiarities on the path from Pogačnikov dom to Razor? Has anyone hiked it? Thanks...
