With EasyPark everything is quite simple, you set the time, if you don't return on time, you extend, if earlier, you stop parking. Whether hourly or daily payment.

I'm not talking about the technical aspect, but the financial one. Paid parking in Mojstrana is, I think, uniform, 1.20€/h. Now imagine a 2-day tour: you start around 5 in the morning and return say at 6-7 the next day. With parking they fleece you as much as sleeping for 3 people in the hut. And if we're talking ecology...a car that drives there and back always pollutes the surroundings in the same way - whether it's there 1 hour or 2 days. But ok, since we don't know yet (well, probably someone does) what the system will be, I'll let myself be surprised by the wisdom of the municipal officials...maybe they'll follow the "P+R" definition on Wikipedia "P+R parking lots offer favorable or free daily parking, which together with frequent connections to city centers by public transport, attracts drivers who would otherwise look for parking in the city."

Regarding Mojstrana you're wrong. Some parking lots have had a cheap all-day rate of 5EUR since the very start of charging. Go check the website, which one... It's not all that black and I can hardly wait to use the bus.

I'm browsing the forum, but I can't find info on how parking fees in Vrata work now. Since I'd start at 4am, bus is not an option. Is the parking fee paid at a barrier, is there a parking meter somewhere or do they still collect it by hand? In the dark I wouldn't want to search too much for a meter, and I don't want an unpleasant surprise waiting in the evening either.

You drive to Vrata, if the collector is present, you give 6 euros this year, if not, you park and go your way. It's no rocket science, although some would like to make a big deal out of parking there.

Same as for years, collects in front of the parking lot, 6 euros, no barrier because it's a state road. For now they drive past the sign even though it says full. But they're trying every way to make it municipal, then barrier follows. Yeah that's how it is when taxpayers fund the asphalt and the rest, then the municipality would just take it for themselves. Almost like if volunteers came to help build huts, renovate, then some would come and simply claim the hut saying they built/renovated it. For us hikers they'd charge hefty rates for meals, overnight and pocket tolls/parking fees, even though it was funded from RS budget. The hut at Korošica would already have a new, renovated one standing, why not because we're not hikers who would rip us off like that. I can easily come carry stuff, help, since I've been a regular hiker all my life. And to me the nicest tours are when I leave the car in the valley, warm up a bit on the flat before going up the hill.

I'd also like to add something to this topic. Parking in Vrata and Mojstrana. Shame on the mayor for copying such bad practices that started appearing a while ago right in Gorenjska. If ecology is really the problem he's ranting about so much, then let them make free parking in Mojstrana and transport to Vrata in very early morning hours, for us hikers what's there now is way too late even from a safety standpoint (possible weather worsening in the afternoon). I think only greed for money drives them in the municipality (anyone who can't count otherwise knows how to count parking). We know the road wasn't built by the municipality, but now some want it for themselves and earn from foreign pockets. Let them follow better practices (Jezersko). Free or paid parking you have to choose. Just greetings and maybe for those responsible to think about!

Only pics 4 and 18 somehow don't go together for me! Or am I imagining or explaining wrong. Full, but parking spots still available? Hmmm......

@cvalenti, it was already mentioned that at a certain number of cars at the parking lot below the sign already says full. Since they want as many as possible on p+r system, this debate has been going on for the last 3 pages in this thread. Regards

"cvalenti", no sign helps. Until there's a barrier, everything is pointless. Oh, money from collected parking fees is worth more than order in Vrata, even though you break your own rules with it.

Barrier on a state road? Not so long ago some were crying how poor guys are locked at home and oh what injustice happens to them, now mostly the same hysterically support some restrictions, barriers, paid parkings at every godforsaken trailhead and such. And overall (overnights, traffic - even to Vrata, fuel sales) isn't even at 2019 level... Seems politics and media always manipulate some like little chicks, pity they don't stick their heads in the chicken coop and stop whining.

Bravo bongo, you took the words right out of my mouth.. barrier on state road, what the hell?! Those of us who regularly go to the mountains will manage these bus encounters and parking occupancy, the rest can put a barrier in their own yard if they want, leave the state road alone

All who criticize the given proposals for regulating the situation, without providing your own proposals, just torment the keyboard. Obviously you think on the principle "I'll manage somehow, I don't care about the others".

Well, to lighten the seriousness a bit. I probably did the running opening of the road yesterday before 6am since it was asphalted. On the whole route from the mountaineering museum to the parking before the hut only 6 vehicles overtook me. So: Early hour, golden hour.
