You can't see Oltar because it's hidden behind Visoki Rokav, to the right is Srednji Rokav, Spodnji Rokav can't be seen because it's further right along the ridge ...

@Domch, is that cave on pic 12 a bit higher before the entrance to the Škrlatica wall? .. because something rustled when my buddy and I went up, we didn't check,.. otherwise super pics. lp

That cave I found by chance, didn't miss the path but those little hills off the marked trail always attract me and so I ended up on that hillock to take a couple more pics then spot the cave and go down to it. Cave is after scree on Zadnji Dolek, i.e. under that scree leading to the wall. Jedriličar: thanks for explanations, first time for me in these parts, still miss some mileage there, it'll be . Mukica: we met a bit below that cave and talked a few words.

With headlamp start in Vrata to bivouac IV. Moon accompanies me and quite some green eyes vanishing into night. To summit without issues, patches of snow here and there not hindering summit approach. Met no one as no one climbed neighboring Stenar either. On return run into herd of frolicsome chamois that quickly leap to valley at my sight.
Nice tour with little climbing but long hike

Hi, does anyone know if self-protection is necessary? For comparison, last time on Jalovec (over Kotovo saddle, down Jalovška škrbina) without self-protection, no special issues. Thx for reply.

On the path to Skrlatica there are few spots where self-belaying would really come in handy (namely, fixed cable protection on the path to Skrlatica is not the rule) - actually I think there's just one. Yeah, the path to Jalovec via Kotovo sedlo is a pretty good comparison. Of course it's my subjective opinion! My opinion is also that a self-belaying kit isn't really that heavy a thing, so whoever has it should carry it along and strictly (!) use it wherever possible.

If you read predecessors' comments a bit you can conclude that there are no problematic snow patches on the path.
