Does anyone know how passable it is from Vrata to the bivouac?

Easiest along the marked path.mežikanje

I'm curious about the snow conditions. Tomorrow I plan to go to Križ past the bivouac.

Go and enjoy. Some snow you'll meet and if not too early (before 8 at bivouac) it'll be soft. All trampled anyway, can turn back anytime.

The trail from Vrata to bivouac IV is passable without winter gear. Snow starts around 1500 m asl, but no problems.
Further to Križ, conditions are more wintry, the path is in shade, so ice axe at least not superfluous.

Ice axe is superfluous, but tomorrow probably all different anyway. Went today anyway.

Cheers!

Today on Škrlatica. Trail excellent, still three snowfields ca. 50 m long, rest dry. Weather was 10.

thanks, lp

Snowfields uphill: mandatory ice axe, or almost crampons... depends on boots. No sinking... maybe 2 cm. Anyway rock hard. Down at 9 am already sinks 10 to 20 cm...

On Škrlatica today at sunrise. The snowfields are soft, crampons don't help much... There's still plenty of snow, even in the wall, but that "exposed" traverse is dry. On some parts, sinking to the waist is problematic. Otherwise top views.

I assume you went up the "normal route", ... and where would one sink to the waist?! - in the notch under the "iron wall"???

I'm also interested where it's up to the waist.

Along the marked trail, yes. Or here: http://www.hribi.net/slika.asp?pot=77124 or on another similar part with chain, snow ca. half meter over chain, total over a meter. + steepness and swimming uphill nasmeh

Anyone hiked from Vrata to Škrlatica in the last days, what are the conditions? Still any snow? Tomorrow new snow will fall, hope not too much..

Thanks for the answer.

Yesterday through Kriška stena to Dolkova špica and Škrlatica, descent to Vrata. Summer conditions on the whole route, so all winter gear stayed in the backpack the entire way.

Yes, usually on this side I miss photos in the opposite direction from Triglav!
Only @Edina thinks of us for whom that world is close to the heart. How could she not, since she can't do without it herself.
The last sentence gives us "mature" ones something to think about. Anyway, even from less steep paths the mountains are wonderful!
