With colleague, we park the car at the parking lot under Rinka waterfall just as the first sun rays illuminate the peaks of the mountains above us. Our walk goes well. When we arrive at the top of Turski žleb, we are occupied for a long time observing a herd of chamois. Then we continue towards Skuta. Fog also starts to appear intermittently. Despite that, the view from the top was quite nice. We descend the same path together with pleasant company met while chatting on the summit. We part a little above Turski žleb. I descend the lower part of the žleb by running down the scree, which is a special pleasure for me. On the way to the car, I show my colleague two smaller waterfalls above Rinka waterfall (under the bridge), which are well hidden from eyes.
Best regards from under the beautiful Mozirska planina, Janez.

I'm interested in which path to Skuta is the safest, and if it is more demanding than the one to Ojstrica, which goes first over Mala Ojstrica.

Funny question (also copy/paste in various threads velik nasmeh) -> safety on marked paths mainly depends on your skills, excluding objective mountain dangers (falling rocks, weather conditions, washed-away paths,...).

http://www.hribi.net/gora/skuta/3/28

Here you can nicely read about the path difficulty, description and much more.

Gričar A, I couldn't help but answer your very simple question. The easiest approach is from Suhadolnik along the circular path to Cojzova hut, past the new bivouac under Grintavec, above the bivouac at the junction turn right. The only trouble hits you around Štruca, there you have to do some free climbing on the rocks, it's well marked. Then a few pegs around Štruca and we're quickly at the top. True, Aljažek has given you all the approaches this site offers. The one I described is really the easiest. I've done this route many times myself and plan to repeat it this season too. I wish for good weather and as many mountaineering pleasures as possible!

Which route in KS or the Julian Alps would you compare to the one to Skuta through Turski žleb (technically and fitness-wise)?

In my opinion, Kopinškova to Ojstrica (regarding length and similar climbing fun). LPnasmeh

Tomorrow (Sunday) I plan a trip to Skuta via Gamsov skret. Does anyone have the same plan tomorrow so I can join from the starting point (parking at the cargo cable car)? Since I've never done this route, I'm a bit less sure about the pathless sections. Looking forward to an invitation. LPnasmeh

Yesterday at 6 a.m. start from parking under Rinka at Okrešelj and through Turski žleb (upper part pure scree and slippery as hell, protections o.k.) to Male pode. At Skuta summit at 10:45 (surprised that it was so fast, usually I'm slower). Lots of mountain lovers on Skuta and other peaks (Grintovec, both Rinkas, Babo). Sun above, cloud base below preventing views around to other mountain groups. Down past Štruca to bivouac below Grintavec and over Male pode via Sleme back through Turski žleb to valley. Total 11 hours. LPnasmeh

Today early in the morning we with wife and son drove towards Kamniška Bistrica, and parked at Koncu at the cargo cable car. I continue to Skuta summit, wife and son behind but only to Cojzova hut at Kokarsko sedlo, where they waited for me to return from Skuta summit and then back to valley together.
Weather was nice in the morning, only eastern peaks wrapped in fog, which later spread to other surrounding peaks.
Very satisfied we left Cojzova hut as they served us very good and freshly baked (still hot) strudel, and the two dogs of the caretakers are supposedly very friendly (says my son).
In short very nice. Lp.

Yesterday, on the ascent to Grintovec, we heard a helicopter somewhere in the Skuta area. Did something happen?

Yesterday from Suhodolnik over Taška to Cojzova hut to bivouac under Grintavec (very nice bivouac hope it stays like that as long as possible) to Skuta (too bad fog no views) over Mlinarsko sedlo to Cojzova hut and to car.
I also saw the helicopter.
Lots of visitors, the dog at the hut is really friendly.

For visitors accessing by car to the head "V koncu" or to the cargo cable car under Kok.sedlo, ... today I also recommend a shovel and a hoe, because the road between Žagana peč and the first wooden bridge, and also higher up, is difficult to drive due to bumps! Of course no problem for off-roaders, ... likewise not for hikers!
Otherwise, today conditions for visiting mountains excellent, peace disturbed only by numerous helicopters (military).

... Veliki podi - many options for approaches to surrounding peaks2
Edelweiss - also found along the path over Gamsov skret and over Žmavčerje3

Yesterday I set Skuta as my goal. I started below Rinka waterfall through Turski žleb and after less than four hours I stood on top of Skuta. I descended over Turska gora and Kotliče to Kamniško sedlo. I would like to warn about the path in Kotliči (Eastern notch), which was affected by the recent heavy rain. Part of the ground below the marked path slid into the valley, the remaining part of the path is heavily damaged (gaps in the ground). I don't know what future rain will bring, but really great caution is needed at this spot.

I also went yesterday on this path and agree with the predecessor that great caution is needed at this spot. Below the trail the landslide has already carried away the soil, and above the trail there's a crack in the terrain, so it's questionable how long the trail will hold. In wet conditions I wouldn't advise crossing this trail. And safe steps!

Skuta shone in the sun yesterday. The mountain is somewhat less visited because all approaches to it are quite long. (cca 5 hours).
This time I ascended from Log. valley over Turski žleb to the top. Nice tour, only the scree before the exit from Turski ž. is nasty, especially on return.
View though .........
