@ljubitelj gora: so you say there was no crowd on Skuta over the weekend. I like that.
Great description, only the weather was a bit poor.

On Saturday I was also on Skuta with buddies and I agree with "ljubitelj gora" that on the descent from the summit towards Turska gora there are too few protections. The path is quite crumbly and at some places very exposed. On Saturday it was also quite wet. I've hiked quite a few mountains and must say that there are protections on much less dangerous paths, but unfortunately not here...
Otherwise on Saturday we did the tour from Češka koča to Jezersko Kočna, Grintovec, Dolgi hrbet, Skuta, Turska gora and finished at Kamniško sedlo. Nice and strenuous tour, unfortunately lots of clouds and hardly any nice views...

Yeah, the whole SMART everywhere, but we can't stuff iron everywhere. I know it's a bit annoying; for such things you need to have a safety kit with you, then it goes.

The day before yesterday, 29.8., I also quickly decided with my colleague for Skuta. A bit of hesitation where and how it goes. Then the idea of a nice circular tour came to me. Start in Konec at the cable car. Ascent via Žmavčarji. The path is already known to me. Mostly quite pleasant, except in the upper part towards the bivouac there is some extra scree. Before the path turns left into the gully, we hear some strange calling from the wall. We guess what it could be. Maybe a domestic sheep fallen into some pit? Maybe chamois, ibex? Soon from a completely different side 4 chamois run up and start grazing at only 150 m distance. Nice. But in the wall still something howls. When we want to speed up towards the bivouac, I spot an ibex female in the wall. Probably calling the young one. To my great joy she comes from the wall to the scree and goes 20 m past the chamois. Rare event, rare photo. Then I realize that while admiring the animals I forgot the time. A whole half hour passed. nasmeh Quickly we rush to the bivouac. Then over the ledges to the marked path. And I'm not sure whether left or right. Soon we find the junction of paths to Skuta, behind it the branch to Rinke. We are on the right path. For the introduction some pegs, a bit up, a bit down. Then the real thing. Into the steep slope, to the very demanding part of the path. Soon stones start flying past us down the gully. Is some person going down triggering them? Soon I spot at only 10m an ibex female with young. We photographed again. nasmeh We continue to the well-protected exposed ridge. Further along the very well-protected gully. Then suddenly the protections run out. That's the part that Ljubitelj gora and Smart write about. It's short, maybe 10 minutes. Yet there we really have to grip the rock. The steepness is considerable, the exposure too. Some extra cable wouldn't be superfluous. Then we are soon at the top of Skuta. Up there alpine choughs are already waiting for scraps. There is also a view to the north side all the way to Hochalmspitze and maybe even Grossglockner. Great weather, great views. We descend to the other, easier side. Towards Štruca, Dolgi hrbet. Then down to Velike pode. This path is much easier, yet at some steps the gravel slips away. Soon we are at the bottom. There the terrain is more even. Then surprise. I didn't know at all that the bivouac under Grintovec is new. And so modern, nice, beautiful. Everyone would want to overnight in it. There must be quite a crowd. Towards Kokrsko sedlo still a bit uphill, that was slightly unnecessary. At Cojzova koča some people who came from Grintovec. The little dog, golden retriever is still there. Friendly, cuddly. Descent to the valley, towards the cable car is the most boring part of the path. But we were down quite quickly. Great day, great tour. Some pictures as proof.

This bivouac has been set up for quite some time now, I think, it's no longer such a novelty... Regarding ibex and chamois: ibex is much stockier and stronger animal than chamois, so obviously no problem for them to walk a bit among them, although otherwise they really "don't like" each othernasmeh

Nice tour, cheers!

Trogar, you obviously looked superficially, urbancek already answered you. On the 3rd pic chamois buck and ibex female. On the 2nd two chamois bucks and one yearling chamois. On the 7th ibex female with male kid. While uploading photos, which is very slow, I couldn't comment. But my hunter's blood doesn't allow someone else to teach me the differences between chamois and ibex nasmeh

In hope of meeting ibex, which often let themselves be photographed and due to the yet unconquered peak, we head to Skuta, yeah, for Skuta via a very demanding path, you really have to mature.nasmeh
We did the same path as 'ruševec', but didn't meet any wild animals, except domestic ones.
Weather gorgeous, ... chatting with hikers interesting, in short another wonderful day in mountains.

PS
... the warden at the hut on Kokrsko sedlo is probably a bit overburdened nasmeh, at least that's what I think, based on all remarks and own experiences too.
And safe steps.

Yesterday 9 hikers of PD Mislinja ascended to Skuta. Starting point was parking lot or at hut below Rinka waterfall (930 m). At 06:15 we set off and first climbed to Frischauf hut at Okrešelj (1396 m) then continued to Skuta (2532 m), arriving around 11:30. We had quite some luck with weather, morning completely cloudless, but around ten it started to "brew", yet despite forecast of showers and storms in northern Slovenia no rain, only occasional fog that was very dense at times, especially a bit below summit, summit itself during our Skuta visit not in fognasmeh
After snack, photographing and stamping descent to Okrešelj followed, on way we planned to ascend also Turska gora, but weather more changeable and time no longer plentiful. At 15:30 arrived at Okrešelj, short rest followed, then only descent to parking where we arrived just before 17:00.

@hribovs88, I also wanted to go this way. Surely enjoyable. Because of logistical difficulties, I chose this path:

Hello. KSA experts, please for an opinion regarding the path to Skuto, specifically I plan to start at the cargo cableway, via Kranjska hut on Ledinah, to Koroška Rinka (Križ), then to Skuto, from Skuto to Cojzova hut on Kokrsko sedlo. I am aware that this path is probably quite long, but I'm more interested in the path between Kranjska Rinka and Skuto? Does one lose a lot of elevation with the descent from Koroška Rinka to the actual ascent to Skuto? I have tried to find something useful, but I wasn't very successfulnasmeh. Thanks in advance for help

Yesterday 22.9.2011 I was on Grintovec. It was wonderful. Less wonderful was the fact that I lost my RayBan glasses somewhere on the scree below Kokrsko sedlo. If someone finds them by chance, I'll gladly invite them to dinner out of gratitude. My phone 041682377
Many thanks, mountaineer Damijan

ronaldinho, nice path, I did it last week alone, climbed Koroška, Kranjska, Skuto, Štrica, then over Dolgi hrbet and past Češka hut back to start.
From Kranjska Rinka we wanted to shorten a bit and went over scree right below to the right. We really shortened the path by a few meters, but time-wise no gain due to terrain difficulty.
