On Sunday I checked if the little lakes on Slemen are frozen at this time of year. And they really are.

does anyone have info on conditions on the Slemenova Špica path via Črne Vode to Tamar?
Planning Slemenova Špica from Vršič pass and descent to Tamar via Črne Vode.

In the current conditions I wouldn't go without skis or crampons, because even in the morning everything sinks in and I doubt anyone has gone here.

Slemenova Špica past Črne Vode

Hello,

anyone been to Slemenova Špica from Tamar Hut past Črne Vode recently? Curious about path. Still lots of snow?

Already before six am we are at Vršič. Nice day dawning. Hurrying to Vratca pass to await sunrise. East faces of Šitna glava and Mojstrovke glow beautifully then. But we miss it, sun overtakes us. East side of Šitna glava glows, but on pass colors fade. No problem, next time.
Turn left on "upper path" over scree and snowfields towards Slemenova Špica. Snow soft but not sinking, no winter gear needed. On Slemen all green, larches, grass... pools dry. Summit of Slemenova Špica fully nettled. No sheep yet.
Descent on usual path, fully dry.

On Friday we climbed Slemenova Špica via Mala Pišnica valley. Very nice, especially quiet and solitary tour. Most of all up to Grlo, then we join the marked path from Tamar and later from Vršič. Well, on Friday it was quite solitary all day. The Vršič road was closed for repairs. From hunters' hut onwards, one needs effort to follow the "path", few cairns, so one is happy for each one nasmeh

. We descended to Erjavčev dom, then to Velika Pišnica valley, joined path/road to Krnica and back to Jasna. Great loop in great scenery… nasmeh

Here you need to leave the path along the bed of Mala Pišnica, no cairn.

A little before the hunting hut the path approaches the stream bed again...

The view from the summit always impresses anew...

Yesterday conditions on Slemeno were wintery. Given the temp. today is surely quite thawed already.
I returned via the upper path under Mojstrovka. nasmeh
