Has anyone been to Slemenova Špica? Is the path trodden or suitable only for snowshoers or ski tourers, regarding the amount of snow?

Prednje Robičje, Slemenova Špica... Robičje is passable, no snow. Flowering path along the ridge. To Slemenova Špica I went by the lower path. Still lots of snow. Snow and wet sections of the path alternate all the way to Slemen. A little path is already made by visitors to Slemen and Jalovec admirers. Nettles already growing on the summit. Stamp is on top too, no logbook yet.nasmehvelik nasmeh

We were early at Vršič. Welcomed the sunrise just below the saddle. North side still largely under snow cover. In the initial part also the usual summer path, which was icy in the morning at some spots, believe it or not. Towards Slemenova Špica less and less snow, path also muddy, summit snow-free. Nice Sunday, few visitors.

Maybe someone knows what condition the path from Tamar is in?

It's already an art to get from Ljubljana to Vršič. Narrowings, speed limits, partial closures, traffic lights, dug-up roads..., but I managed to arrive at Vršič around 4:30 anyway. Actually, I was interested in access to Hanzovo. Too much snow for now, so I didn't try. Went to Slemenova špica. Need to cross a long snowfield a bit below the gate. On return climbed also to Spodnje Robičje. A few years ago the path was much more overgrown and harder to pass. Saw 3, met no one.

This time to Slemenova špica a bit differently, a bit more wildlynasmeh.
Up through Grlo, down past Črne vode, which yesterday in the lower part was still covered with snow.
The path through Grlo was completely dry, Mihelič doesn't recommend it in his guidebook.

It was quite exciting in the morning to step onto the path leading into the gully, we were also interested in the junction to Mala Pišnica right at the pass.
The blazes are spot on, a bit right and a bit left, I even saw one more than two meters high on a boulder; you seek the easiest passages, which you find without much trouble.
At the saddle that was the first victorynasmeh.
Continuing the path also a peek at the hunting hut in Mala Pišnica, which yesterday at that exact time had some hikers visiting.

At Slemen beautiful as always, even though the small lakes had no water, so no crawling on the ground searching for Jalovec's reflection in them.

Return via the path past Črne vode, which in the upper part surprised with beautiful grassy meadows and larches and even nicer views of the surroundings. It seemed nothing could surprise us in a bad way, since we didn't really know the path. But it turned out that in the lower part in the gully lies snow, under which water gurgling was heard. With concern we watched the little path descending deeper into the gully, no other exit but through the snow, as dry passages along the edges aren't possible.
We put on crampons and hoped for the best, no slip and especially no snow hole appearing landing you lower in some water under the snow. Just in case I put on my jacketnasmeh

But it ended well, you step onto dry ground somewhere at the waterfall, and that was the second victory.
That's why the beer at the hut went down even better and was well deservednasmeh
view into the gully, Mihelič does not recommend it1

So you didn't fall into the crack between the wall and the snow? They rescued one woman that day. eek

Luckily not me.
At that time (14:45), mentioned as the time of the accident on the GRS page, the last photo was taken. But I remember two who, when we went further down the path to the hut, were standing right on the edge of the snowfield. It seemed dangerous to me.

I hope it ended well, wouldn't want to be in that woman's shoes.

panda, thanks for pointing out this accident, I didn't know before.

If you're asking if the path is dry - yes it is. Yesterday a whole bus of kids went to Slemenova Špica and from Mala Mojstrovka we saw there was a crowd so I think the path is dry and everything ok nasmeh

Today my husband and I also went to Slemenova Špica. It wasn't nice all the time, but when the sun finally shone as it should, we instantly forgot the fog and gray clouds chasing us in between. And the yellow colors of larches turned golden and the soul sang. In photos I focused on those from Slemenova Špica and on the return. If you want to see these autumn beauties, hurry before the wind blows and shakes the needles from the branches.

Yesterday quickly to Slemenova Špica to see the larches. Sadly they've already largely shed their beautiful autumn colours. Strong NW wind yesterday made sure the air was occasionally full of larch needles. Still nice, lots of visitors..
