Smrekovec was quite visited on Saturday, further towards Krnes and Komn the path isn't trodden. Only some tracks left by snowmobiles.

On April 1st the path led us to Smrekovec. Start and end of the tour at Slemen, from where a marked path for 3 hours of walking. The whole path is normally passable, the markers have just newly marked sections. From the hut on Smrekovec to the summit there are still some snow patches - as a sample. Otherwise spring has come here too.

Yesterday again after a year via Črnivec for a visit and a hike. This time Golte and Smrekovec were chosen. Hike without special expectations, but it turned out to be a really nice trip, path covered with needles, air full of pleasant smells, so you look around, absorbing as much as possible of what is seen and scented. Towards the summit along a pleasant path that winds between grasses called "volk", characteristic of the pastures of this peak of volcanic origin. Wherever you direct your gaze, you can admire, wherever you sit down, it is pleasant, you have to take off your shoes so that the pleasure can be even greater.
On the return at Mozirski planini, we were also delighted by a herd of frisky horses that just appeared from somewhere.

Here you can refill water, treat yourself to a beer, or take a walk to a good coffee in front of the Golte hotel.

Has anyone wandered around the Smrekovec area lately and is willing to share how the blueberries look this year? Thanks.

There are none, just empty blueberry bushes (nasmeh). Saw them on Saturday.

In the frame of K-24, Adi and I traversed the Smrekovec massif on Saturday and saw lots of "burnt" blueberry bushes from frost, just the occasional berry here and there.

Today a fairy-tale day on Smrekovec. Traversed Smrekovec on the north-eastern side. Started at Kramarci, then past Dunajska bajta and black lake to Hlipovec. Return along the ridge over Komen, Krnes, Smrekovec summit, past the hut on Smrekovec back to start. Colors pure fantasy, but probably not for long.

Yesterday's ramble on Smrekovec - beautiful and also strenuous, as we were the first to break trail to Komen, over Krnes, same on the way back, on the path when we were returning home. No living soul anywhere. We could observe footprints in the snow, from deer, foxes - or maybe something bigger, churned up in several places by wild boars, close encounter with three wild roosters.
You can see that the wildlife on Smrekovec is very diverse.
But what, soon it won't be anymore. Soon the wild snowmobilers will come and drive away all the wildlife in these forests, which unfortunately are also perishing due to the bark beetle. Where are the responsible ones here again? Is it really impossible to stop these snowmobilers, to let nature live as it should?
One real one, judging by the conversation, you know where the dog buries its bone.
In front of the hut I read the warning sign, which says how to behave in this area, we ourselves know what Natura 2000 should mean.
Two older hikers pass by, to whom I pose the question: "Are they still driving snowmobiles? What about this sign?"

The local woman's answer was: "The previous owner forgot to remove it. It was and it will be!"
"Isn't it prohibited?"
"Yes, regulations are there to be broken," the lady proudly replies.
I mutter something after her, as I no longer felt like meeting her, since after the conversation I realized that she herself supports such behavior and that the snowmobilers are locals, in the sense, it's ours. Hellozavijanje z očmizmedenzavijanje z očmi

You're whining too much, do you have everything in order in front of your own doorstep?.

I agree with jprim. Snowmobiles, quads and dirt bikes don't belong in this space. Especially if the area is protected!

A week ago I witnessed such a scene on Mrzlica. 4 motocrossers "plowed" the entire meadow, which is under Natura2000.

As long as the general mentality of the people in this direction doesn't change for the better, and we still tolerate these activities/actions, the control over such behavior will be as it is now: zero !

The thing will change when they regulate the matter properly. No need to look far to see how things are handled.
Here they prohibit the thing, impose nonsensical fines (by the way, snowmobiler or motorcyclist pays a lower fine than a mountain biker - Slovenia after alleek) and that's it. Nothing is solved with that, just a bunch of bad mood.
First they should precisely determine where it's not allowed and where it is (and argue accordingly), then issue fines, of course much higher than now. But apparently we are not capable of that here. We solve problems along the line of least resistance, which means only more problems.

Janezs - in front of my doorstep everything is fine, obviously you're one of those who ride snowmobiles on Smrekovec.

This has turned into a debatenasmeh
I noticed the post from jprim and fully agree that driving snowmobiles, quads, dirt bikes... is completely inappropriate not only for Smrekovec but also for all mountains, regardless of whether it's Natura 2000 or not.
Something else bothered me and I immediately checked with an acquaintance who is often on Smrekovec. This is namely your claim that you spoke to a local woman.
Yesterday, on Saturday he wasn't on Smrekovec and doesn't know any local woman who would go to Smrekovec especially in snow and fairly bad weather. Smrekovec belongs to the local community of Bele Vode (major part), even the hut on Smrekovec has a house number from Bele Vode, which means you spoke to a lady from that place.
He told me it's not impossible that someone from there really wasn't there yesterday, but assured me that no one supports driving any motor vehicles on the mountain pasture.

True, on the Balkans we are masters of violations, whether recommendations or bans on driving in natural environment or otherwise.eek The pictures are actually from Pohorje, where the same annoyances happen.zavijanje z očmi
Just a little further north, e.g. on the ridges of mountains above the Labot Valley, there is an ideal world for driving aplenty, but in many years of visits in all seasons I haven't experienced encounters with such motorization, and they don't even need signsnasmeh
Exceptions are for supplying some hut or in rescue operations.

Well, she really wasn't a lady from the village of Bele Vode, but probably from the Carinthian end. The hut is managed by PD Črna, ...
And the sentence: ...the previous owner forgot to remove the sign ...
I wonder, which owner? PD Črna?
