If anyone hiked Smrekovec this weekend, I'm interested in how the blueberries look? We were ten days ago, they were still red and tiny. Don't want to miss them.

Blueberries on Smrekovec won't be ripe before August, what you saw was blueberry flowers. nasmehmežikanje

FROM SLEMEN, OVER SMREKOVŠKO POGORJE, TO LOKA (K-24 at night)

Night is clear enough, so we don't need headlamps, later when entering the forest we turn them on. Path is well cleared, so we quickly find ourselves on the road to Smrekovec. At the hut Aleš waits for us, we change some wet clothes and continue to the ridge. Here it's light enough again for pleasant hike. We find ourselves near Travnik. Now we became more lively too. In pleasant walking and observing nature we arrive at Loka.

Andrejev dom, Smrekovec, Loka.
Darkness, fog and lots of water were the main features of the night hike. Fog was so thick that the headlamp sometimes didn't penetrate to the ground, so many steps landed in water. We also needed to constantly watch the path direction.

Again we walked on Smrekovško pogorje. Not much snow, up to 15 cm dry, in snow we could see quite some tracks. We stuck to the direction of the hut on Loka. Wind was very strong and annoying, so in the chapel on Komn we sought some shelter, due to renovation of the chapel which still misses one door, it wasn't much better. Of course all this happened at night, we experienced dawn on Vodul pasture. Otherwise we "enjoyed" the bright cold night.

Stari stani at Golteh-Isteje-saddle Kal-Smrekovec and back. From Stari stani we wanted to take a shortcut on the steep slope left to saddle Kal. Steep incline, more than half a meter dry snow and some fallen trees discouraged us after a while. So we returned and went mostly on the usual path to Isteje. Descent to saddle Kal was nice, dry snow. Towards the top of Smrekovec there were some hiker tracks visible, but covered with new 5 cm snow blanket. Descent on Smrekovec meadow was of course too short, as always, but still all nice. Snow dry, great. And then back the same way.

I was interested in the path Sleme-Smrekovec, so I went to check it out.
I drove to the junction where the hiking trail starts, immediately prepared for deep snow and indeed had snowshoes on for most of the path. Reached Komna, had a little snack and returned to start, snow cover is thick, high drifts in several places. Nice sunny day behind me.

LOKA,SMREKOVŠKO POGORJE,SLEME
After snack with Nejc we continue on the path towards planina Javorje, but without snowshoes it was not possible. We snowshoed all the way to Komna. Here again a five-minute snack and onwards, past the hut. Then by road to Kramarce, then shortcuts to the main road. We still get there in daylight. Now we know the conditions of the entire range. Lp.

SLEME,SMREKOVŠKO POGORJE, LOKA within the framework of K-24

The path Sleme-Smrekovec is already well trodden, to Komna it still goes without snowshoes, although it sinks several times. Komna, Loka require snowshoes for comfort and good walking. It is possible without snowshoes too, then you struggle with breaking through the snow base.

Today on Smrekovec some fresh snow, which didn't cause problems, started at Reberšak. More on the pictures.

Has anyone recently stayed overnight at the hut on Smrekovec? How is it? Somewhere it was once written that there is no great cleanliness... Is it better now?

Blueberries from the foothills in the Sleme direction already, hurry before the daily diligent pickers take them all - apparently an inspector with scales may wait at your car.

Blueberries will be relevant for a long time, they ripen by altitude and aspect, so a walk along the top of the ridge offers more blueberries, some were still green (16.7), but without proper picking gear it's hard because they are smaller.
For several years I wanted to pick blueberries on Smrekovec, so this year I did it, but locals know much more about spots and sizes... you try and see for next year. But the taste can't be compared with others.nasmeh
